vhgmcbuddyMemberHi Rob, yes to the handles, John Little the area rep for South scotland has a Troy with the same handles mine & has sent photos & diagram with all measurements. I am seriously thinking that going by what Brian Bell has writen in his book (seventy years of garden Machinary ) that although we have the Mk 1 & 2 there is also two other models, the Spartan & the Trojan which superseded the Mk 2, I think I have one of those, as for the info about India, Australia, & UK making them can anyone else shed anymore light on this, I belive it to be correct as it came from a very reliable scourse, Hopefully I will be at Milton Keynes with it.

vhgmcbuddyMemberCould be the condenser, on my mg5 and 6 they both appeared to have an excellent spark however under compression it was weak, if you don’t have a neon spark tester then try another spark plug in the lead then ontop of the fitted plug it will be harder to see but will give you an idea if your spark is failing under compression (plug must not be a resistor type)

vhgmcbuddyMemberGood day all, I’ve found out just recently some interesting information regarding the Troy Tractivator , they were made in 3 different country’s,1 Australia,2 India ,3 UK.
So if you have a, 1. Blue background to your spec plates it comes from Australia .
2. Red background it comes from India .
3. Black background it comes from the UK.
I just thought I would pass this on to anyone with a Troy Mk 1 or 2, hope this helps anyone,it certainly cleared up why mine is light green & one in Scotland is dark green both are original colors.

vhgmcbuddyMemberYes great little tractors, they don’t make them like that anymore. Looks in tidy condition, That ones a bit older than my three, I have a C145, 512D and a 518H. I have two sons in forestry so the D512 gets involved in gobs around the log shed (free hire). I hope you manage to find one for your self soon.

vhgmcbuddyMemberHi Alec,
So you’ve managed to find one?
The paint I used was sparex paint. I used the darker Nacton blue, the lighter shade is orwell and rood red.
I don’t think I would use it again though, it takes a long time to cure fully and doesn’t like coming into contact with petrol.

vhgmcbuddyMemberHaving looked at the tines again, I think you are right Peter. They don’t appear to be very worn, just heavily pitted, so will probably stick with them for the time being.
Agreed Charlie, my bank account also is much happier with £12.50!!! I have explained to all companies that I have contacted what the springs are used for. I have also supplied them with photo’s of my machine and one of my original springs. What I am hoping to do is purchase an initial small quantity ahead of the large batch order. These can then be checked for fit and also trialled on a suitable working machine to make sure they will perform as intended.
