vhgmcbuddyMemberWhat a nice job you are doing I am getting a mg 6 and hope to do it up
When I look at your 6 it gives me inspiration to do a restoration after seeing the result of your hard work. What type of paint have you used on the main body ?February 28, 2015 at 9:04 am #11884
vhgmcbuddyMemberI have received a quote from another company interested in making the springs. The cost per spring for a batch of 100 would be £12.50 excluding VAT and delivery.

vhgmcbuddyMemberThanks for posting the different spring and tine types Charlie.
On the subject of getting new tines laser cut from sheet, the Steel I plan on using is Hardox 400. I use this regularly at work when designing soil engaging implements.

vhgmcbuddyMemberCharlie, thanks that’s helpful.
Would you be able to show it coupled up as I’m not sure I follow (I’m a bear of very little engineering brain…)
Thanks

vhgmcbuddyMemberYes John, I will also be replacing the tines on my Simar. Once I get the springs sorted out, I will get some new tines laser cut from sheet Steel.

vhgmcbuddyMemberI don’t know what model you have; I use SAE 30 for my W H with a kohler 14 hp engine. I fitted an inline fuel filter which I keep checked. As for other parts plug/points act, if it’s starting and running OK I leave well alone. I remember years ago tinkering with motorbike and ending up with no change or sometimes worse.

vhgmcbuddyMemberSorry that was £30 I’d converted from Euro’s

vhgmcbuddyMemberJust a thought
I saw 8×300 tyres ( for my Autoculto Autogardener) for 30 euros each on this site and the postage didnt seem that excessive. Haven’t bought yet though !

vhgmcbuddyMemberI’ve managed to find a suitable SCH trailer and need to create a hitch to the atom and rig some kind of brake.
Does anyone have photos that could help?

vhgmcbuddyMembergreat idea and thanks for asking us simar enthouiasts. Have you also thought about the tines,HOOK Type. I suppose more of these need replacing as they are the wearing part. most of mine on the A56 are between half or less.

vhgmcbuddyMemberI am not familiar with Clifford’s so couldn’t say if this particular spring would fit. All I can suggest is compare your Clifford springs with the dimensions shown in my original post. Maybe someone else has attempted to fit a Clifford with Simar springs and can enlighten us.
