    Can anyone please advise me on the likely year of manufacture of my Shay Rotogardener 80 serial number 80/A/6570 currently under restoration?

    What engine does it have? What is engine number? It may be possible to get an approximate date from these.

    It’s a JAP, serial number: S80/G/4989/40.

    Looking at this table I would say it dates from 1959, as it has a prefix G, the engine is an S80.

    That’s great, many thanks. Just the engine to go to complete the restoration, luckily recently run I think and kept in the dry.
