vhgmcbuddyMemberHi David.
Just to make another option open to you. It may be worth getting a quote from cherished car insurance.
I think they’re competitive and have always been great to deal with for the last 10-15 years.
I have my mg6 and Gutbrod with them at the minute and the rest of the families vintage tractors are with them too.Cheers

vhgmcbuddyMemberWhen so many rally around to help in these situations, their are these no goods that take advantage of it. These thieves are lowest of the low and should be punished accordingly.

vhgmcbuddyMemberIt is truly dreadful, I have had four break ins, I seem to be the supplier of Generators to the travelling community, I have fitted an Alarm Mine, which uses a 12 bore blank cartridge operated from a trip wire, the flash and bang would wake the dead, and i am sure would leave enough DNA splattered around to give the police something to do! the devices are legal. you can get them from Henry Krank in Pudsey Yorks. just remember to unhook the thing when you go in the shed!

vhgmcbuddyMemberHi, thanks for posting the pictures, after the weather we’ve had just lately it turned out to be a really nice day. The picture of myself is quite an eye opener, didn’t realise I was such a scruffy b****r.

vhgmcbuddyMemberThanks Charlie for the copy of the engine manual and thanks Joe for the advert you have posted above very interesting .
I stripped down the engine today to replace the crank bearings and I have to say it is a swine of an engine to dismantle . To get to crank out I had to strip the whole engine down leaving only the valves in place I thought I would only remove the timing plate ,then remove the aluminium side plate complete with crank and bearings but I didn’t realise the camshaft sprocket would foul the governor. Luckily I noticed that before the heavy hammer came out and any damage was done . I will try to take some photos of the rebuild and I could post them if anyone would be interestedFebruary 19, 2014 at 10:52 pm #5929
vhgmcbuddyMemberGood evening, Joe,
Many thanks for this email, which is the best information I’ve seen so far! The article is fascinating and the technical data is excellent.
Good evening, Joe,I’ve just come in from the garage, where I’m fettling up a replacement engine which is stated to be low mileage; the original is in need of a rebuild.
The colour was originally red and it has been modified somewhat but that is all part of its charm. The aim is not to over-retsore it but to get into weather-proof running order …. another way of saying I’m a garden-shed mechanic, definitely not an engineer!
Your offer to date the engine is much-appreciated and I will send both soon.
Kind regards
David

vhgmcbuddyMemberHello
When I think that in Buckfastleigh they sold tractors all over the world and nobody have heard of this factory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This is really strange,no?

vhgmcbuddyMemberThanks for the replies . I have checked the gearbox casing but cant find a serial or model number on it, all I know is that it is a three speed gearbox made by albion.
I started to look over the jap engine and after cleaning the points you could weld with the spark however the ht lead is all perished . Could anyone tell me what size ht lead should I get and do I just solder it on to the coil?
When trying to pull start the engine I thought it felt a wee bit tight and decided to remove the aluminium base plate and look inside the engine and I am glad I did as the big crankshaft bearing on the output shaft end had seized and the whole bearing is turning in the casting so I will have to pull down the engine and replace it .
The rest of the engine looks good and other than a clean up should be ok
If anyone could tell me where I might get a manual for this engine I would appreciate it.I am thinking about fitting a modern engine On the model B and using that one for my garden and wondered if anyone had an idea as to a more modern engine that is about the same size as the jap 2a engine ? I thought maybe a honda g 100
