I use a mix of paraffin and diesel which softens rust and depending how bad cerosate and leave to soak and a handful of ball bearings. Off different sizes if possible.

wow what a gift Ethan. That farmer must think a lot of your keen interest in old equipment. so make sure when you have restored it to let him see it first . I am sure he will appreciate that. And before you leave the farm make sure you fill the back up with spuds.

Well said Charlie ,house scales are not a cheap item if you get a good make,so thanks for this as I don’t think I am ready to leave this earth yet,and if the scales got damaged here so would i.

Thanks Stuart, I recon my F400 is 1980/83. I recon the way to go is drive it dry as Ray mentioned, seeing it has a rubber inner. I did see the fitting tool some were on the net, I will improvise with a round piece of thick ply with hole in and a suitable length of pipe.

Thanks Stuart that would help if you can look up a manual. Some photos Ray, the casing had a bit of aluminium corrosion, so it’s been cleaned of and painted with etch primmer and hammerite. I see from the photo I need do a bit more cleaning up before fitting.

Right so how do I know what weight is on the ball hitch ? I could move the crusher forward or backwards to give me the correct figure when I know how to calculate it. HELP NEEDED ON THIS SUBJECT the recommended hitch weight when connected to my car is 60 kgs, so maybe its possible to use household weighing scales to weigh the loaded trailer on the hitch .

That parts list is brilliant priced up bearings today but much cheaper on ebay . I thought if I used a sealed one in the middle that can replace the seal that’s gone .

So looks like I need gear MT17 and Arm MT103 for gear change , the only other thing is the outer rim on one wheel has a big chunk out of it .

I managed to get the engine running after a couple of days , the piston rings were stuck and a clean around the mag got a spark but after a night soaking the rings she ran quiet nice ,the exhaust is missing but I can make one up and there is no air cleaner and the carb is mounted straight on the barrel unlike all other photo’s I have seen of these .

For more info I put two pics: the american engine and a being restored english. You easily can see the differences. On the american one you cannot see the pump, hiden by the main chassis board
