Thanks Charlie, I will upload again tomorrow. Do you know where I could get a piston and barrel from? I’m hoping my amazing engineer friend can do something with them. Thanks for the drawings, very interesting!

Sorry, the photos didn’t upload but here is a pic of the piston. A very sad sight!

Hello everyone. I have just saved a Simar 56 from scrap and have found it to have no compression. A quick strip down found severe damage to the piston and cylinder from a dislocated piston pin clip. I am going to try The engineer tomorrow to see if he can reuse it but I’m not holding my breath! I am in NZ and have not been able to find any parts here for it! If anyone has any spares please let me know! Thanks heaps.
    Regards Alastair

Hi Gregg, so sorry for the late reply!! Haha 3 kids and my life is busy! It is nearly complete now and looking great! Thanks to Charlie I have the original decal in place on the mill shroud and I have had new nameplates made. I managed to source new tyres as well which was the most difficult part! The original wheels were past it so I have had new aluminium ones cast up. I just have the cables to go and it’s all done!

Strip down coming along nicely, so much original paint underneath, it would be a crying shame to paint it.

Well that’s the missing flywheel fins found, must of broken off in use and then blown round the cowling. Ending up in the cylinder/head joint 🙄

    Thanks Charlie,
Well today’s events have found that is actually a gx and not an L, Jim has kindly managed to date it to roughly somewhere between August-september 1946.
Iv had a spark and a pop this afternoon but now the spark has vanished so it’s off with the flywheel for a mag rebuild.
After years of exhibiting stationary engines the plan is to have this ready for the eastern counties show at Norwich showground in march, fingers crossed.

    Cheers,
    Liam

Hi Charlie I have looked on the plate and it’s a villiers 12/2 the number seems to be 937d 090 I will forward a photo soon but it looks the same as the tipper with logs in it under the Wrigley section only with less paint and a little rust not sure of the original colour thanks for your prompt reply.
