vhgmcbuddyMemberHi Wristpin
Thanks will close the gap a little as you suggest . It does seem more electrical than fuel . Disconnected the kill switch to count that out too.
It seems the condenser is a factory the condenser is made to fit it ! I have tried several US sites and they all say that condenser is obsolete Strange Maybe that suggests there were problems early on. This is replacement engine , as the original one failed last year I got a coil from that auction site from Guy Motors, and it seemed good even got it running then it stopped dead no spark !!! I put genuine points and condenser on the original engine too . Think I need to try and rebuild the original I popped the head off to check the valves and all seem OK . My Wife works for Kohler so may be I will see what I can do !!!
Thanks

vhgmcbuddyMemberHoward 350 certainly had a trailer made by James and Stone who were boat builders in Kent so may be the Bantam used the same trailer . Strange coupling though it fits onto the plough hitch, and utilises a hitch block so the trailer can pivot and has a swan neck to come over the rotors . This in effect tilts the machine forward so the rotots clear the ground . Rather in the same manner as if you were walking the machine to a site
I have been after one for years They are about and yes they were marketed as a howard accessory certainly for the 300/350 range

vhgmcbuddyMemberI think it maybe a kirby lauson engine. The spark plug isn’t a problem to get hold of I just wondered if there was any where good to look for other spare parts.

vhgmcbuddyMemberWell that’s been quite a quick rebuild for me, normally they lay in pieces for months on end, this one’s only taken 3 1/2 months haha.

Just the implements to clean up now which shouldn’t take long and then she’ll be ready for her first outing.
cheers,

vhgmcbuddyMemberThanks for your reply Charlie. I haven’t contacted Hayter so will send them an email in the week. Unfortunately I don’t have the mower any more so am going from memory. Whilst I am 100% certain about the engine, and the fact the deck wasn’t painted, I cannot be sure the mower was a Hayterette. If it wasn’t then it must have been an equivalent rough cut model with four wheels and high inertia disc cutter from another manufacturer. I can clearly remember it taking a few seconds to speed up to full throttle, and slow down again, just like a Hayterette. I have never seen another rotary mower with a Clinton engine in this country which is why I would love to solve the mystery of what this mower was, and maybe find one if another one exists.

vhgmcbuddyMemberI found information on B&S 5Hp Coils,
Depending which coil is fitted that it might indicate a wire for a kill switch?
dont know if this matches your situation or not.Mike.
