joegrgrahamParticipantI’ve noticed whilst searching for parts for my ZZ (a lot older I know, but bear with me) there is a lot more available in the US. Parts that, over here, you get a blank look from the man behind the counter when you ask for, are widely available over there.
I usually get bits through that infernal auction site, and if you do a bit of searching, some peoples shipping charges are very reasonable. I just got a new fuel bowl, all-in about £20 and it only took six days to arrive!Joe.

joegrgrahamParticipantYou beat me to it Sean! 🙂
To follow up from the original thread, I got the bushes from my local bearing company using the numbers quoted by Sean in the old thread.
I had the shoes relined by a local truck mechanic for £15 per shoe.Joe.

joegrgrahamParticipantThanks Angus,
When I get a chance, I will have a look at the above. I also have my doubts about how well the float needle is working, as the carb drips fuel from the overflow when the engine is not running, so it obviously is not sealing properly, so maybe it is sticking as well.

joegrgrahamParticipantHi Angus,
This is just running light, space is a bit tight, so I want to get it running right before trying to drive it, don’t want to get it stuck in an awkward place! After it has died, it needs to be left for a couple of minutes, then it’ll fire straight up.March 17, 2014 at 8:44 pm #6526
joegrgrahamParticipantI see what you mean about the rod. The support doesn’t appear bent, if it is, it’s a very even bend. The welding on the bumper brackets isn’t the finest I’ve ever seen, so perhaps it’s an on farm repair, or maybe the man at the factory had been on the ale the night before! 🙂
One of those mysteries we’ll never find the answer to.March 16, 2014 at 2:45 pm #6485
joegrgrahamParticipantGeoff,
Just had a look and the threaded rod is the same length as the others, was the idler tower an optional extra?. The screws are missing due to the previous owner removing the clutch.
Also had a look at the bumpers, bolted up tight, they still slope up, turned over, they slope down. Perhaps they been rewelded at some point. See pics.

joegrgrahamParticipantHi Geoff,
The bumpers aren’t bolted up tight yet and have been pushed up. It’s on the list.
I had wondered how the belt pulley was supposed to work!March 9, 2014 at 7:04 am #6260

joegrgrahamParticipantWith a few exceptions, the tractor prices in general didn’t seem quite as ridiculous as in previous years.
Only £50 for the Bean, damn I should have bid on that!.March 1, 2014 at 9:46 pm #6083
joegrgrahamParticipantAndy, the zenith 24t2 was also used on a number of tractors, eg British built Allis B and the Fergy T20. Old 20 parts company (among others) do a rebuild kit for them.

joegrgrahamParticipantNice video. What is the original condition beast on steels that appears a few times?.
Joe.February 8, 2014 at 4:23 pm #5764
joegrgrahamParticipantDitto with thoughts for those affected. Also, huge respect for Charlie and all of the others who are volunteering their time and equipment to go into the affected areas to help.
Saw a piece in the paper yesterday about farmers trying to move their stock, they have had offers from as far away as Scotland and Cambridgeshire to take stock and donate bales of straw and hay. Makes you realise that there are still a lot of good people in this country.February 1, 2014 at 3:41 pm #5605
joegrgrahamParticipantI’ve just finished the B + S ZZ engine on my Trusty. Carb’s do turn up on a certain auction site, and if you go on the .com (US) version of said site, you will find plenty of people offering carb kits. I got one from the US, N.O.S including postage cost about £25 and only took a couple of weeks to arrive. If you’re interested, PM me and I’ll pass on a couple of sellers who supply parts.

joegrgrahamParticipantThanks for the info Sean, just had a look at your restoration, really good!. I spoke to a local Truck mechanic today about re-lining the shoes, and I’ll have a look at your source for the bushes.

joegrgrahamParticipantLooking at pictures of the flooded areas, it always fascinates me how miles of land can be under water, but all the old churches and farm-steads are on little islands. Just shows our ancestors weren’t so daft after all!.
In the case of the Somerset Levels, it is amusing watching the Environment Agency tying themselves up in knots trying to deny that their complete neglect of the rivers and drains over the last twenty years has had anything to do with the currant situation!. -
