I’ve personally never heard of them, but I know the address, I’ll make some enquiries. Might be worth contacting the Museum in the Park at Stratford Park in Stroud (when they reopen), they certainly hold records on Budding, Ferrabee etc.

Am I imagining the asking price of the trusty steed that has appeared today??

Gutted Dave. Totally understandable though, and the right decision in light of events.
Just have to make 2021 the biggest and best yet!!
    All the best mate,
    Joe.

I think you are pretty much going along the right lines.
Businesses need our support, particularly small, family run outfits who should be able to carry on with online orders, as long as the postal service keeps working, and the businesses are still able to obtain parts and materials themselves.
I certainly think there will be many a long put off project being dusted off and finished this year!.
I did see one genius idea today on Facebook, a chap in Australia is sorting out a virtual steam rally!, On the given day, everyone posts pictures/videos and information on their machines. Have a look at ‘virtual vintage machinery show’ if you’re interested.

New old-stock carb kits are usually available quite easily from the US.
The old Briggs flo-jet carb can be very temperamental, make sure that every joint is well sealed, check that you haven’t got any play in the throttle butterfly shaft. If you do get a carb kit, run a tap down the jet holes before replacing the jets to make sure that the jets seat properly, the threads can wear with time.
All the above can allow excess air into the carb which will stop the engine running.
Spare carbs do turn up quite regularly, so it may be worth collecting a few, I ended up with a one built out of two or three different ones when I had a Trusty with the Briggs zz.

Thank you Jim, you’re a star. Looks fairly simple to fabricate, I’ll have to have a rummage in the metal pile.
Just out of interest, is your chassis tubular or box section?

Received my copy today, as already mentioned above, the new paper is a huge improvement, makes it look a lot more professional.
The biodegradable wrapper is also a big hit with me.
Huge leaps forward all round, many thanks and pats on the back to all involved.

As above, a fantastic weekend, thanks to everyone involved, especially Dave Weeley for letting me have a go with his plough, and Dave Clark for the crash course in crawler ploughing.
Next year is in the diary and I’m off to the shed to start repairing the bits that broke/came loose!

    Joe.

You can date a briggs engine from the serial number stamped on the cowling. Will give a month and year.
Without seeing it, not sure on the wire, could be an earth off the coil pack.
