ParticipantIf the engine runs I would start it and run it for a few minutes and then top up the tank, or at least turn the engine over a number of times to fill up the pumps and galleries. Low oil volume will do no harm as it is a dry sump system.

ParticipantThese tough little crawlers are their own worst enemy, they were so overbuilt that they withstood years of total neglect and yet continued to perform without breaking.

ParticipantLooks now as if there will be 10 machines at Newbury. I shall be arriving on the Friday pm to set up the stand ,banners and balloons etc. Looking forward to a good weekend.

ParticipantI would also suggest running the machine up on to a couple of boards to keep the tracks off the floor and reduce the risk of the tracks rusting on the contact faces. From experience plugging any larger holes like the exhaust outlet and track support tubes will deter mice from making them a winter home or a food store.

ParticipantFrom past misfortune I now use Briggs and Stratton fuel stabiliser in all my petrol machines. Tractor last ran a couple of months ago, tell tale is showing good spark when tractor actually runs just no slow running, prime suspect is slow running jet.

ParticipantPart of the attraction of the Tractor World Show at Newbury in October is that there will be an outside arena area where the machines will be able to move around.

ParticipantHi Whereabouts is Biddenden? A Ransomes feature sounds good.

ParticipantWhen rebuilding 137 I took some parts that still retained the original colour to a paint shop with a colour scanner and they matched up to a RAL code I will dig it out. As a very early machine from 1936 I think that the colour changed on later MG 2.

ParticipantDave
Ransomes did not make a winch themselves but did supply MG6 ITC and ITW fitted with an inboard Boughton winch fitted under the seat.September 7, 2016 at 4:44 pm #22279expeatfarmer
ParticipantDave I am sure there will be plenty of help to tow your TS 30 plough in or even a dead MG2 If you want to bring it along. There is an auction and autojumble stands.

ParticipantLook forward to seeing you all there . Are there any MG crawler owners going to come along?

ParticipantDave it would be good if you could bring your machine along, it is the end of the eightieth anniversary year of the MG tractor. You can enter your machine on the Tractor World Show Website.

ParticipantOrwell Blue is the lighter of the two colours used on MG2 and early MG5. Later machines were painted with Nacton Blue, both named after the factories where Ransomes built them which in turn were named after rivers around Ipswich.

ParticipantMy memory tells me that a 32B plough was a two furrow the second being removable.
