ParticipantIt looks as if the crank has an older crack which has failed, may have been there for years.

ParticipantHi Simon
Yes I have found the manual I will post it out to you.June 7, 2020 at 9:04 am #34621expeatfarmer
ParticipantHi Simon
Glad to see you are getting torn in to the sprayer, the wheels are very rare and so are the tyres, my plan if the wheels wer too far gone was to find some wheels with wrong centres of a size that tyres are easy to buy and then cut out the centres of the old wheels and weld them into the new rims. Not a practice I would recommend for a road vehicle but perfectly safe for this application.
Good luck looking forward to the rainbows!May 23, 2020 at 9:27 am #34447expeatfarmer
ParticipantThe engine is I believe a Sturmey Archer, the “screw” missing from the carb is as Charlie says a tickler plunger to flood the carb, the silencer I have is very similar I will take a picture.

ParticipantHave you tried using a hot air gun to heat up the pump? It may free off enough to get it out.

ParticipantHi Josh
Adjacent to the injector pump there is a 19mm? plug screwed into the crankase, remove this and underneath you should be able to see the coupling between the pump and the rod, it is a spring loaded ball joint which you should be able to pop off which should then let you remove the pump.
Hope that helps. When refitting wrap a stiff wire around the rod, pull the wire up the plug hole to hold the link in place whilst you snap the joint back in.September 1, 2019 at 9:30 am #31861expeatfarmer
ParticipantProbably the most common non standard engine fitted would be a Lombardini diesel. No chance of repairing the Sachs?

ParticipantThat is strange how come the MG2 was built at Orwell works before they moved to the Nacton site or have I got that the wrong way round too?

ParticipantHi Peter
Your MG2 will run without problem on unleaded fuel.
The colour would be Orwell blue lighter than Nacton Blue named after the factory sites and rivers in Ipswich. Nacton Blue was used on later MG5 6 and 40 tractors.
The weight of an MG2 was listed as 8 1/2 cwt (950lbs)
Hope that is helpful.February 16, 2019 at 10:05 am #30370expeatfarmer
ParticipantI have a Ransomes Turf Trak four wheeled mini tractor fitted with a front loader which I use for carrying things up and down our drive particularly the wheelie bins which I can take two at a time.A lawn tractor with the deck removed is a useful tow tool.

ParticipantJust been going back through recent completed listing on E Bay Ransomes MG and found an RAF liveried MG2 sold around 21st November. The seller says that it was used on airfields for grass cutting , his father showed it towing a starter pack for aircraft. So maybe more than rumour.
