Nearing the end of clearing my collection I was busy sorting the MG6 TVO tractor which had not run for a number of years. Finally it started and ran for two minutes then catastrophic bang! Crank snapped in two places con rod bent fortunately piston and barrel are ok but block is scrap the centre bearing support web is twisted.Fortunately I have a spare and can rebuild a good engine.
Jonathan,
It is a strange failure as it appears more like a hydraulic lock failure that you would get from a water cooled engine. There is so much space in the head that with the engine running you would never get that much fuel up the top.
Any sign of anything jamming the crank or big end?
Neil
