ParticipantI’m gathering this is fitted to a Howard Gem , or possibly one of the larger Cliffords , either way it was by far and away the best engine ever fitted to a Gem.
When you say you’ve had the injector cleaned , was this done professionaly , it needs to be properly overhauled….not just cleaned , my initial conclusion tells me this is your problem.
I’m assuming you are using a starter fuse ??.Andy.

ParticipantLignum Vitae (spelling??) , the wood that bowls are made from is a very good “lubricating” wood to use.

ParticipantSorry to hear that , I well know the feeling , my allotment shed was cleared out by some lowlifes a short while back. Two rotavators and a reversible plough went walkies.

ParticipantAngus , they appear difficult to source , as is often the case buying a complete engine as a donor is the best option , there’s plenty on the unmentionable auction site (unless of course you’re HD Trust).

ParticipantI’ve used them (or at least tried) , quite simply the merry tiller isn’t heavy enough for them to work as they were designed to do , unless you have very moist ground or a very soft lawn.
If you’re using them on anything other than a Titan model your landspeed will be far too high.
The other major problem with them was stone blockage , preventing the previous cast being pushed out…….all in all not one of MTs great success stories.Andy.

ParticipantGreat news Alan , I know how much your machines mean to you, Sadly I suspect the lowlife that took them will walk away with a mere bit of finger wagging.

ParticipantFirstly , thoroughly clean the points , it can be done without removing them if you’re careful. Ask your good wife if you can just borrow her nail file (the emery board type) and use the fine one only , they usually have more of these than we have spanners , a few careful strokes should get them clean enough.
Finish by passing a clean piece of card through the points.
All being well you “should” now have a spark , always test for one direct from the end of the HT lead , you can test for a spark with the flywheel in any position.
Try this and report back.Andy.

ParticipantAs above , BIDE your time and don’t rush things , at least you have nothing to lose , being fourstroke with aluminium piston I would say your chances of recovery are very good.

ParticipantFirst and foremost , remove the Magnetos , and have them properly tested , your local reputable garden machinery dealer should have a purpose built ignition tester.
Spares for the various Wico mags are readily available.Andy.
