vhgmcbuddyMemberThanks Geoff. Much appreciated. My efforts to learn to plow have knocked the machine about a bit, but I am getting better. I have the start sorted, indeed it has started from cold with just one pull. I have the tick over very nearly sorted. I am learning the various bits of the plough that need tightening, tweeking ect. My plowing is still very poor.

vhgmcbuddyMemberDon’t think I would have paid £450 for a hydraulic 3 point linkage, if anyone wants to pay £500 Ive got one and I’ll chuck in some link arms free of charge !!!!

vhgmcbuddyMemberI have lost the bolt on share/tip/point off the plough. Does anyone have any ideas as to the make and where I might get a replacement?

vhgmcbuddyMemberThanks, Owen. I’ve tried that – no luck with petrol. I did get it to fire up (nicely) with easy-start (ether based) in the plug hole, but after a few revs it stopped again. Easy start into the carb intake didn’t work, though. I’m going to have a look at the intake valve again tomorrow; I wonder if there might be wear in the guide.

vhgmcbuddyMemberHi, you could try a drop of petrol down the plug hole. If it runs and then stops, you will know its a fuel problem.

vhgmcbuddyMemberJust like to say a big thanks to Chris. After collecting the spare 700 gearbox and axle, I completed rebuilding my machine today and have just rotovated a patch to test it. Wow, what a machine that 700 is with the Villiers 28 engine! Really pleased, so thanks again Chris for the parts – another Howard back on the road – well garden anyway.

vhgmcbuddyMemberI will order a new diaphragm for the fuel pump
As that looks like the problem
Then change the oil once I am sure the pump is not leaking into the sumpApril 19, 2015 at 10:52 pm #12646
vhgmcbuddyMemberAll fixed…while up doing safety boat duty I took my tools…..some days are Luckier than others..I found the grub screw hole actually through the Pully V where the belly runs, took a small Allen key to see if anything was in the hole….it located, was right size, one nip and all sorted….
….how many times have we fiddled and struggled, well today was payback, two mins and all fixed….thanks guys…

vhgmcbuddyMemberIt was not the fan bearings! When I started the MG2 today for a bit of late afternoon bog wallowing to extract some fire wood, the alloy fan drive Pully fell off and got mangled by the rotating clutch. Photos below…..
Pully on my other MG2 is cast steel, smaller too…..any idea which one is the correct one….or in those metal short war years it was a matter of what you could get (1941 is best guess at manufacture date)….
