vhgmcbuddyKeymasterA happy ending to a relatively sad story
It transpires that “my” Howard actually belongs to someone else! It seems that this Howard was on loan to an original member of my allotment association and for some reason was never returned to the owner?
The Howard appeared to have been passed from person to person until it came into my possession and having, by chance, become friendly with the owner I insisted that the owner take it back and return it into his collection.
Since we are both members of the local vintage machinery club I thought it only right that the owner take it back and I am pleased to say that he once again has possession of his Howard.
Unfortunately this left me without any machinery but fortunately fate stepped in and I have acquired an Allen Scythe and this now leads on to my next post.Thank you to all who helped me either way.

vhgmcbuddyKeymasterExpeatfarmer, I would love to bring my mg2, however it is not really in its happy place at the moment, the gear box cover is off, I think tha magneto has suffered substantial internal corrosion and the fuel tank is doing a very good impression of a colunder. Having said that…………

vhgmcbuddyKeymasterHi Charlie, thanks for the reply.
I’ve found a belt supplier (https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/contact.php) who give instructions on how to measure a belt, pulley diameters and C to C measurement. This formula works well for a straight belt but there is no way of knowing what to add for the pulley clutch. I have had the same issue with belts for my Atco Ensign.
Having said all this I have managed with trial and error to get a belt that does the job, although I think it is too long and as it runs in will cease to function.
On the positive side I used the Sweeper for the first time yesterday towed by my 28 year old Westwood Gazelle.
Regards

Dave, thats very kind of you, yes please, will pm contact details.
To all those who guessed ts30, well done. Was down the yard earlier and climbed over all my junk to try and get some pictures, even included one of the supplier plate.
Any idea if ts30b is relevant to anything? Whats the difference between a ts42a and b?August 31, 2016 at 9:32 pm #22191
vhgmcbuddyKeymasterMight have just found the answer on google, think its a ts30.

vhgmcbuddyKeymasterHave you got a good tappet clearance with the valves closed? Spark plug loose? Take the plug out and shine a small torch in and just have a look first. Remove oil dipstick, put your thumb over the hole, pull it over, can you feel pressure in the crankcase? Can you hear where the compression is going?
Had a yamaha motorbike that smashed the gudgeon pin clip to pieces which gave me a floating pin that machined its way into the barrel, hope its not that serious, just thought i would say.August 31, 2016 at 5:49 pm #22184
