The Green Spark Plug Company is a good pace to look, see Lodge BN

I have had a look in the workshop manual for the Mk10,12 and 15 and can see where the confusion has arisen. The Mk10 and Mk12 had 18mm plugs, the Mk10/1, Mk10/2, Mk12/1, Mk12/2 had 14mm plugs. See attached copy of relevant page from manual.

What engine is it, Villiers Mk10, 12 or 15 or is it something else, they did have other engine options?
Without going out and checking my machines I can’t remember what plugs I currently use, but NGK A6 rings a bell. I have one at least one machine, a SIMAR, which has had a thread adapter fitted taking size from 18mm to 14mm.

I have used villiersparts.com several times and would recommend them. Good quality new Viliers coils

Having a quick look at the parts list it does not show a cylinder head gasket, copy attached.

Is that the 2 stroke engine?
You may need to find someone that can make a gasket. What material was the old one?

This would be a good item and story for an article in The Cultivator. Maybe a photo of the item on one age, guess the object. Then answer and background story on another page.

The wheels can be reversed to give a different off set. If one is at narrow setting and the other is at wide setting then it would have one tread facing the opposite way. If both wheels are on the same setting then yes it would appear one tyre is on the wrong way round.

Not one I recognise, the Power Barrow TW badge would suggest it is a production machine and not homemade. I wonder what TW stands for?

It would be interesting to see a photo of the set up you have on your machine.

Looking at your photo and the diagrams I posted I would say it is a HJR type gearbox.
Are the parts you need information about numbered 38, 39 and 40 in the diagram? If so they are the operator plunger. To set plunger it should be screwed home and then unscrewed half a turn to ensure plunger engages in V slots in the operator (part 47) correctly. Screwdriver slot lies in the same plain as head of plunger.

The taper needle is adjustable to get the correct fuel/air mix, the files attached below detail carb overhaul and set up.

As far as I know the cam profile did not change.
A photo of the whole points set up, with flywheel removed, would help us see what might be wrong. (I know removing flywheel then retiming the engine is a pain). I have attached a file showing the layout of the points, which I am sure is the same on the Allen Scythe engine.
Have you tried slackening off the points fixing screw and moving adjuster?
