charlieKeymasterCurrently sorting through and cataloguing the Trusty enginering drawings. Not seen anything yet for dynastart on Steed and not sure all drawings are there. This is going to take some time to complete.

charlieKeymasterAs far as I know the dates in the Trusty register are from the factory records, so I would assume those to be correct.

charlieKeymasterGrahame, thank you for your thoughts on the membership fee increase. The vast majority of those that bothered to contact us regarding the increase were in favour and did not want us to scrap or go digital with the magazine. A number of renewals have already been received, only time will tell if the increase has a significant impact on membership numbers.

charlieKeymasterGrahame, sadly Facebook etc has taken over from forums and real clubs, social media groups acting as virtual clubs. Any discussion within a club etc wil generate differences of opinion, the problem is the typed word does not convey the same or intended tone.

charlieKeymasterGrahame, sorry to hear you will not be renewing your VHGMC membership, note this will mean you wil no longer be able to post on the forum.
Condenser v capacitor, my understanding is they are the same just a change in terminology over the years and of course construction methods and materials making modern ones more efficient and reliable.December 4, 2025 at 4:16 pm #44484
charlieKeymasterAndy, renewal payment received thank you. When magazine arrives you will see, in the article about renewing, to ignore any date you see online.

charlieKeymasterUnfortunately the club no longer has anyone listed as the BMB helpline.
One possible way to date them would be from the engine number, this will depend on what engine is fitted as some makes are easier to date than others and if it is the original.October 28, 2025 at 8:29 am #44270
charlieKeymasterOctober issue now uploaded to website.

charlieKeymasterAndy, I would say it is a Miller as it looks nothing like a Villiers. The points are mounted on a brass plate and operated by a cut out in the crankshaft.

charlieKeymasterAlan, thanks for looking. I had wondered if it was a Countryman but decided no. Cutting width is 18″ wheels are 13″. No sign of any vacant fixing holes or brackets suggesting there aren’t any missing guards. The stainless steel guard at base of drive to cutting head could well be home made. Under the cutting disc is a thin brass cover, looks a bit like a saucepan lid, which is very well worn as it would rub along the ground. At some time the machine has been repainted with what looks like army green. Areas of original paint are a light metallic green. The machine was collected along with a Rotogardener rotatavtor.
