charlieKeymasterThat is great news and useful information for other Colt owners.

charlieKeymasterThe l/h one is for mounting on the rear and should have a length of square bar going through the holes, the r/h one mounts on the front and should also have a length of square bar. The rest of the cultivator frame mounts on the square bar. I will see if I can get my cultivator frame out of the shed and take a photo. The manuals do not show the different parts.

charlieKeymasterA brief history of horticultural ploughing and why there is a separate section for ploughing. In the early days of the VHGMC ploughing with our machines, eg Trusty, Anzani Iron Horse etc, was looked down upon by the tractor ploughmen, often saying we could never do a proper job. However through the hard work and determination of the ploughmen in our club we became recognised as being able to plough as well as any of the other single furrow ploughmen. We established our own section within ploughing matches and the obligatory rules. There is a ploughing section not because it is seen as the main activity of the club but a specialist activity. Many of the club ploughmen only plough, they do not exhibit at shows like so many other members. The club working weekends in Kent and at Weeley are intended to be an opportunity for any member to bring along whatever machine and attachment they want and have a play, no competition, although there is a club match at Weeley.

charlieKeymasterIf you are confident that you have removed all loose rust and there are no pin holes in the tank it might be worth trying it without sealing the inside. Any loose rust will find it’s way to the fuel pipe and eventually cause a blockage. Have a look on the Frost site, they list several kits and products for sealing fuel tanks. None of them are cheap but it is something you dont want to fail or need to do again. I have bought one of the motorbike tank kits to try on one of my machines which has a rusty tank. For information about ethanol and the problems it can cause have a look at the FBHVC site

charlieKeymasterStew, most area reps have a banner and a number of club members have bought their own from the club shop, contact Steve Woollas to purchase one.

charlieKeymasterI see now, it is a shouldered bolt, no idea if you can buy them off the shelf, probably cost a fair bit to get some made. Using a collar on a standard bolt sounds like the best option.

charlieKeymasterI assume you have checked for a spark to rule out an ignition fault. British Telecom had most of their portable pumps and generators running on gas, this avoided the need to carry petrol in cans and most vehicles had gas bottles on board already. It might be worth speaking to Meetens as they are Villiers parts specialists.

charlieKeymasterPhoto is a bit blurred but I am guessing it is a square headed coach bolt, ie it has a smaller square below the head to stop it turning when fitted in a square hole or in a slot and has a whitworth thread. Looking around this link might be useful https://www.myersblacksmiths.co.uk/#/rivets-bolts/4565523902

charlieKeymasterThe Amal carb in the illustration I copied differs slightly in that the float chamber is under the carb and held by two screws. Your carb has the float chamber on the side and I think you will find the original top would have screwed into the float chamber. The thread may have got damaged and hence the replacement top.

charlieKeymasterWhat manual are you after? Various websites have downloadable manuals.

charlieKeymasterSeeing the photo from busman it does look as if you have a non standard top to the float chamber. I am sure a photo giving a better view of the rubber bung and surrounding area will confirm what it is.
