    Dear Angus.
Spares were delivered yesterday so re-installed the head with the new head gasket. Assembled the carb too. Put some fuel through the spark plug hole and get it to turn…and it fired!!!!
Need to now try if the carb is working and try to adjust what can be adjusted as well as set the governor…

Hi Iain, i have inherited this Allen scythe from my uncle but really know very little, like your one i think this is an mk11c engine, the serial number seems to be lower in the 16000’s, also would like some info on them.

    Good evening
Andy, I checked the inspection cover and there is nothing on it.
@ Wrispin. Mine must be an intermediate as it has no condenser but it still has points. Any idea how to know the year of this engine?
Good news: I set the points at 18 thou and I put back the flywheel and … now I got spark! Youpi!
I also fabricated an adjuster for the governor, fixed the throttle lever as it had about 1/5 of a turn play.
Ready to re-assemble everything when I get the spares delivered and fire it up.
    Have a good evening.

As I was searching for an answer regarding testing the coil, I realized that you recommend having it tested by a professional or test in situ if you have a enough good spark. Will wait now until I get the spares to put the engine back together to test if I have a good spark.
    Cheers Jeff

    Dear Angus
Thanks for the pictures indeed. I can copy the adjuster.
Here is a picture of the coil + points.
What should be the opening of the points? I set them at 14 thou (0.35 mm)?
What should I expect when testing the coil? I got 3440 ohms
    (3.44 with meter set on 20 k)
Should received the spares I ordered within days: looking forward to get it all back together and see if it starts.
    Cheers Jeff

Thanks Andy. I just want to get it to run, so will be an easy fix.
Here is a picture of the flywheel if it can help identify the model.
    Warm regards

    Dear Andy and Keith
Here 2 pictures that I kept on my phone. I am clearly missing the adjuster.

Dear Andy and Ssorthiek. Thanks again for your support. Really appreciated. Just called the mechanic: flywheel is off. Will pick it up tomorrow and sure will share some pictures.
The bracket on the valve chest cover is there, but what I am wondering is if there is anything between this bracket and the spring, something to adjust the load of the spring as I have seen on some videos on youtube.

Dear Andy. Thanks for your quick reply. Hope to have the engine back with the flying well off on Saturday. Shall look further into the ignition i.e testing the coils, condenser and adjusting the points. Yes it is a wipac ignition. Already ordered new condenser and points (from the UK) so may replace if necessary.
How/where should the spring on the governor lever be connected? The spring was there on the lever but no connected to anything?
The tap on the tank is made of cork: how can I replace it as it is very lose and I don’t think it closes really.

    Warm regards

I saw a pair of really nice looking antique tennis court posts in an antique shop near me the last time I was in there. Probably still there if you want any more. I did think they were nice but wondered who would want them. Now I know! Let me know if you are interested in them

Hi i have 3 of these 1 very early horwool like in the brochure 1 late horwool and 1 early nickerson. The late horwool and the early nickerson are very similar, but i believe it is a early nickerson if the seat is original, because it has the nickerson turfmaster logo on the back. There is a serial plate on the frame towards the rear left as you sit on it, behind the foot plate, which will tell you for sure
