it just seems that the 2k clear coat has eaten into the enamal i dont know why because ive done it many times before with out any problems

Dont do it .
If it says that your (adobe flash player requires upgrading ) then its a virus
as i tried to install it myself & thankfully i stopped the installation just in time

That is just heart beaking Nigel , I do know how you feel though as it has happened to me a couple of times . I dont know why the laquer reacts badly with the enamel .
hopefully someone will know the answer to this problem .
Maybe this is a thread that is worth doing at some point

It’s taking a long time to harden, probably down to the cold weather. Failing that I do know one crazy guy in Birmingham who welds petrol tanks for a living, not my choice of jobs!

I thought that it was to good to be true,saying I was going to start at Christmas. I just could not resist it,so I clamped it onto the portable workbench and tried for a spark. Not much doing then I realised that the plug cap was loose so I cut it off and started again.
Giving it a spin with the hand drill resulted in a weak spark,so will have to remove engine and strip down. hoping that the points when cleaned on a wetstone will help and possibly let me get it running.

good luck with the chemical repair would be interested as we all are if this is going to get you out of a lot of searching.

Sorry, typing error, I meant to write one two strokes, but I suppose thinking about all 700’s that I’ve seen had two strokes as a factory option. A lot of the 700’s tanks that I’ve come across have cut outs on the front edge. This one is flat. When stripping the paint there was a small line of pin prick holes, I didn’t fancy welding it for obvious reasons so am experimenting with an ethanol proof chemical sealer.

are after looking at the simar site i have reconised that it is eather a c1 or c2 so i will have to go and have a look at it and post some picts

the downside to our hobby, i went to my workshop today and my paintwork looked spoton now as you know i want to use this tractor for working days when it is finished and want some thing easy to clean, so i spent all morning wet flating my nice shiney paintwork so i could give it a coat of 2k laquer, look what happend two weeks of work gone up the swanny.

For those who come a long way, thankyou also. Remember, the judge for Land Rovers comes from Launceston in Cornwall, the furthest tractor came from County Galway, some people really do take their hobbies seriously. LOL Phil

They are similar to look at, but unfourtantley almost nothing interchanges. The handlebars do fit but even they will need modifying to look the part. The fuel tank is the same as some four stroke 700’s though, but that’s about it.
