Been a bit pushed this weekend but have cleaned up the main gearbox shaft and fitted the rebuilt clutch to it. Took a while to clean the threads with a small file as they seem to of picked up a clout in storage, everything ok now though. Sorry no pictures as camera died. Just been and bought a new one- they haven’t half come down in price! A 16 megapixel for less than a third of the price I paid for a 6mega pixel a few years back. Will take some shots as soon as its finished charging.

Also is the cylinder glazed, a quick hone may help with possibly a new set of rings.

hi thanks for the photo alan and yes hortiman more photos would be great quite interested in the back upright post and the bag fixing on the post, also what material is the bag and should it have a shoulder strap???

owen,good to see you getting on with the new project. will it ever tow aircraft again ? it must have come from a private airfield as most equipment used on military sites are painted bright yellow

Just identified my wheels from new ones on Ebay. Flymo DM Rotavator drive wheels. Thought some would turn up eventually.

Andy. thanks for the advise. I am going down the road of getting a carb recon kit and although I have blown the carb out with high pressure air,all the new bits in the kit will add to hopefully things been correct. when this has been done will give it a try on the rope.I am also going to grind the valves just for good measure. will keep you posted on results.

Just starting to collect bits, hope to start restoration in a couple of weeks once I have finished my Blackstone ‘No trouble’ engine.

A question about insurance. How do you insure a ransom MG, obviously not road registered but if you drive it around a rally field surely it must need 3rd party insurance?

Is it a cork tube you need or large felt washer??

What model Allen scythe do you have??

Ok gareth and angus looks as if the engine has had a a lot of work in the past time for a major rebuild.
