Have been making good progress with welding up the rear end. I won’t post any pictures of the covers until I’ve finished them as I’m sure I’m not doing it the professional way, but seems to be strong. After I’ve finished his howard I won’t be taking on any more Howard’s for the foreseeable future as I’ve got to weld up my other passion which is my subaru,the second shot shows the worst bit which is the sill now its been blasted.

went to borrow a valve seat grinder and when I got it home it was to large. drat !!!!! so out with the lapping stick and paste. nice new recut seats etc. the bore was given a small deglaze as it was not as bad as I have seen but while the head was off I gave it a do. Also have ordered some carb repair bits from George at V Parts so we should very soon have this little engine ship shape and Villiers fashion

A little question about the last issue of the Magazine: page 12 there is the photo of a Lancaster 34. What tool is on: a reel mower or a tiller?

If Charlie lived where I do he wouldn’t be saying snow is good, lots of very steep hills coupled with roads that don’t see a gritter more than once a week! That’s the main reason I’ve kept my old subaru so long,but what started as a couple of patches for the mot has turned into a full restoration.
A white christmas though would be nice as can happily stay in the house for a few days.

I received the new exhaust 13 days form USA.Then another 13 days to fit it, only joking it wasn’t that bad I had to cut a piece of pipe off the old exhaust to make it fit also the bottom fixing bracket was off angel and needed a extra strip of metal made up to secure it. So needed a bit of playing around with but now it’s tempery in place looks OK. Short piece of flexi pipe would have made fitting quicker and I recon it could be fitted along the side. Cost including carriage and import duty was £42.03. Frankie’s beginning to look a bit smarter.

Where I live, snow sometimes comes in 24″ fall, and we get 8-10 drifts. We keep the garden tractors in the shed, and break out the big 200hp ones and blower units. I don’t mind little 8″ snows with the Gt, but im getting to old to play in the snow, all day for the big ones.

Hey lads , I am currently looking for 124 UNF 7/16 x 3 inch bolts with lock nuts and 94 BSW 5/16 x 1 3/4 plough bolts with lock nuts. Been quoted some crazy prices for them. Anyone any ideas on the best place to try for sensible prices?

hi the one thing which always seems to be missing when you talk of magneto s is the small gear on the mag shaft. these are normally hard to get. but I will retract this if someone knows where they can get one made.

That’s positive thinking jim. the trouble with snow is when you are in bed it silently falls,strangley enough all the other weather actions you can hear. so its always a surprise when you get out of the bunk !!!!!

That’s brilliant , although the machine is rough it seems a shame to scrap it as it seems so well made and a peak in the transmission it seems all is well in that department.

Mark looks as if your going to clear Alaska with that beauty,this statement could be nearer the truth,as I should think where you live it can reach 6 to7 feet high when the winds up ! oh by the way mark what size settings are you downsizing to,as your photo look good this size ?
