vhgmcbuddyMemberHi Andy, The weight was on the outside of the flywheel, when I first saw it I thought it was the cover to allow access to the points. It had a spring that was pushing on a screw that seemed to serve no purpose.
The running of the machine is a mystery. The machine runs like on tick over and the speed improves very little when I open the throttle, I have no book for this engine, looks like the 147cc and I first set the points at 3/16″ TDC but changed to 1/8″ because of backfires and I couldn’t start it. I would be happy if the throttle made a noticeable difference.March 10, 2016 at 7:14 pm #20219
vhgmcbuddyMemberHi
The key will have to be machined (filed) to a boot shape as the keyway on the flywheel is only about 3/16 deep I will post a few photos when completed I have another 16h that has never been used it is a bit older than the one I am working on at the moment.it may have a differant magneto and set up I will see, just don’t want to open it up whilst the workshop is so full
Thanks for the intreast and information.March 10, 2016 at 3:15 pm #20214

vhgmcbuddyMemberThanks for the reply yes the cam is on the flywheel boss I do know that villers made a model which was also a 16h and a copy of the j.a.p so perhaps it is so the j.a.p 16h engine was fitted to a couple of small motorcycles in the late 50s early 60s perhaps the keyway was used on these the crankshaft I am told was universal so who knows.
thank you all for your help I will update on the progress.March 9, 2016 at 7:26 pm #20204
