ParticipantMr Wallingfield says your seat is being warmed up. There will be emergency alcohol to hand, in the form of Sloe Vodka and I’m sure lighting will be fixed up knocked off from the villages illuminations, hope you don’t mind the fairy!

ParticipantThe OLC was set up with the cylinder mower in mind, then later with the rotary.Allen scythe by definition are for cutting long grass not lawns, is the answer in the title!
I do hear that the OLC are having their 25th Anniversary next year, at this rate they will be expecting a deputation of Wheel Horses.
There annual auction is going to be reduced to 30 lots in the hope to get the quality up.
Perhaps they will be auctioning Allen-scythes!Hdtrust

ParticipantWell done Hillsider, no its definitely not a lawn mower,so what’s it doing on the front of the OLC’s magazine.
Come again I’m old and rare, and I’m sure some would like me as a trophy as well!
You might as well stick a Traction engine picture on the front of The Garden Machinery magazine as some were Fowler ploughing engines.October 30, 2014 at 1:16 am #10521hdtrust

ParticipantIt is a 14 inch Ransomes light motor, there should be a round badge on the side prefixed with letters followed by numbers, send me what it says and i’ll date it for you.
The petrol tank between the handles would have had a Ransomes transfer on it.
Best

ParticipantThe RHS Lindley Library in Russell Square London has the complete year runs, to enter the Library you have to be an RHS member. They also have copies of the Cottage Gardener as well.
For lawn mowers we have every page copied from every British periodical which was collated over 20 years ago.Makes me feel old even thinking about it!August 9, 2014 at 2:26 am #9611hdtrust
ParticipantThanks Steve.
Been a busy one!
Been on Radio BBC Warwick this morning and BBC radio Suffolk this after, and hit all the national papers today, The Mail, Express, Times and the Telegraph!
I only thought we had tom tom drums down here in Somerset!

ParticipantHi Charlie,
Both I would say were under age!And to young when asking for insurance. The machine that hit me was a walk behind BSA engined, with a black tipper skip in front. Looking at the programme I cannot find it listed.
Has anyone got a phone number for this club?
Regards

ParticipantThis was clearly a professional gang, not content to break in the van but then go onto break in to our sheds. They then followed on to 5 other properties in the village who are also Landscape gardeners and bloody well cleared 2 of them out!
Now let me remember Mr Prime Minister! We are sending in the Military to help with the flooding in Somerset, so what about all the villages around which are also suffering, why is there not more Police working the graveyard shift! I was told there is only 3 working the Chard area, yes and it was not our villages turn on Wednesday night!
Funny tonight there is plenty activity, but then there always will be after the horse has bolted. All the BBC can say is there is looting in the flooded properties in Somerset,if that is not a call for every low life to get free pickings,I don’t know what is.
Just remember tools are not covered in vans nor out houses or in lock ups not owned.
So Mr Prime Minister when you are in your next Cobra Meeting with the Insurance Companies ask them about tool insurance but I think you will find the answer on the door of the Meeting room (Cobblers not Cobra) -
