Yes I guess most copies suffered a similar fate. Like most of these old publications it is the adverts that are of most interest to us.

I will get our editor to put an advert in the April issue of The Cultivator, our club magazine. These are great machines but not many people seem to collect them, possibly due to the weight, about 4 1/2 cwt. If no one takes it on as a project it would be better to see it broken for spares rather than scrapped, just wish I lived a bit nearer.

Spark plug should be a Champion No 7 with a gap of 0.018 – 0.020″. I would suggest a call to the Green Spark Plug Company for availability and alternatives.

Castrol XL is still available. When mixing fuel for my SIMAR 56 sometimes I use Castrol XL and other times a modern 2 stroke oil, but always in the ratio specified for the machine ie 6%.

Andrew sorry to hear about break in, hope nothing irreplacable was taken. Shooting is too good for them, something more painful and lingering would be better.

Better than starting a new post send report and photos to the editor for next issue of The Cultivator. Images taken from website are not high enough resolution for inclusion in the magazine unfortunately.

Glad you enjoyed the magazine, as I always say the thanks should go to the members that submit articles, as editor I just put it all together. I will have a look and see if I have anything in my literature collection. I guess the sad fact is paper doesn’t last like metal so it will always be more elusive than actual machines.
