charlieKeymasterNot familiar with the MG6 engine but I did have an MG2.
Dipping a modern plug with an unglazed porcelain tip in petrol will not do it any good, old plugs had the tip glazed. If you suspect fuel is not getting through to cylinder put a drop of petrol down the plug hole, replace the plug and see if it fires when you crank it over. It could be the timing is out, does the MG6 magneto have an impulse unit, this flicks the magneto over faster when hand cranking to give a better spark, if it has you should hear it click when you turn the mag over.
I am sure one of our club MG6 experts will be able to give further advice. Good luck with the project.November 16, 2014 at 8:15 am #10717
charlieKeymasterH D Trust is almost old and he cuts grass so that would make him a lawn mower ie someone that mows lawns.
I can see where the argument lies, definition of a lawn mower and what the OLC cover as a club, is it only cylinder mowers or does it include finger bar mowers. To further complicate things the Allen scythe could be fitted with a cylinder mower, so to could a number of other garden machines such as Monro Tiller, Howard Bantam etc.
I am glad our club has a much wider scope.November 16, 2014 at 8:08 am #10716

charlieKeymasterTo test the coil properly you will need to find someone with a suitable tester, your local garden machinery repair centre may be able to help. Testing with an multi meter will only be able to identify open or short circuit, it will not show if there is low insulation which breaks down when coil is in use.

charlieKeymasterWelcome to the forum, looking at the amount of work your Trusty needs I think the 30 day trial will need converting to paid membership!!!! That style of bumper is the early one, forum member trusty220 will be able to give a more accurate date from the serial number. A Zenith carb for the engine should not be too difficult to find, gearbox side plates might be more difficult. The wheels seem to have seen better days too. Keep us posted of progress.

charlieKeymasterWinch is always a good idea even if you normally drive machines onto trailer as it can be used to haul a dead machine on.
