    Hello will
I’ve normal left a bit of fuel in then drain it out after storage as I find all the seals leak over wise. And to stop and condensation in tank. Oil in cylinder might be a good idea with it been tvo. Good thinking with throttle cable! I had a bit of trouble this year and I put it down to cheap bad petrol from a supermarket so I now only use a well noun national garage ultimate fuel yes it’s more but it’s worth it!

This is a link that claims to be the Norlett Bushwakka , maybe it is a later model.

I have a contact who knows the buyer of this one with the Tecumseh engine (looks like yours has a Briggs & Stratton engine) he thinks he bought it new so I may get some more info if I am lucky. If I had a mower museum I would certainly want one of these in my collection. As for selling, they are quirky enough to very well in an eBay auction.
    Regards Norm.

Made a new fishtail exhaust tailpipe by squeezing a piece of tube between two wedge shaped bits of timber. Didn’t quite get the wedge angle correct, so the pipe is longer than it should be (Simar 0111).
The Green locks for both wheel ratchets (Simar 0112) were fitted to the hubs using 10 x 65mm roll pins. The mounting lugs on the wheel hubs have slightly larger holes than the Green lock, so the roll pin grips the lock, but is free to turn in the wheel hub lugs (Simar 0113). The sprung plunger inside the Green locks locates into small indentations in the larger mounting lugs, holding it in either the locked or unlocked position (Simar 0114). To complete the wheel hubs, I added chains to the two gear selection pegs (Simar 0115). Each chain has a Karabiner clip at one end so it can be removed along with the peg when selecting the desired forward speed. The longer peg selects either low or high speed depending into which hub it is inserted. The shorter peg is a blank for the whichever hub doesn’t have the long peg in it.
The throttle control is held in place by a special stud (Simar 0116). As the original stud was badly corroded, I made a new one from a M6 x 40 allen head cap screw. The cap screw head was turned down to 5/16″ diameter and then threaded to 5/16″ BSCY (Simar 0117). The 5/16″ BSCY end screws into the base of the throttle control with the M6 portion of the stud passing through the handlebar tube (Simar 0118). A new throttle cable was made and threaded down the inside of the right hand handlebar and joined to the carburettor (Simar 0119). The control rods for forward (Red), reverse (Blue) and the miller (Green) were reattached to the steering column (Simar 0119 & 20) via a long cross shaft.

    Good Morning All
Thank you Charlie for the link, I have sent an email but as of yet, I have not heard back? Never the less, in the tractorbox archive I found this https://www.tractorbox.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4535, the second to last post by “Dieselhead” where he describes the operation of the clutch lever. As the clutch on my Allan engages when I drop the lever it would seem that my Allen is a “T”, however I hope that “MERL” will confirm this.

I have made good progress with the Allen and it is now just a case of sorting out the cutter bar. It took me awhile to sort out the ignition since I was able to get it started but could not get it to restart unless I took the back plate off again.

A post in another forum suggested the HT lead so I changed that but whilst doing this I had to unscrew the lead and be careful not to lose the TV suppressor element and then it dawned on me and I remembered something about the TV suppressors being the cause of many a spark problem! I removed the suppressor and replaced it with a spring, put everything back together and now the Allen starts first time every time.

So now that I know the Allen is a usable machine I would like to try and get some attachments so that I can use it on my allotments, I would be interested to hear from anyone who may have a draw bar either for sale or who would take some photos and measurements so that I can construct a draw bar and then use a trailer on it.

I would also like to hear from anyone who may have a plough that they want to sell although I suspect that as the ploughs are so rare that I would also have to construct one.

Never the less any and all information is much appreciated. More photos to follow

    John

Finally traced the dodgy running to the butterfly spindle on the carb. There was a slight amount of side to side play, so drilled the spindle hole out and fitted a bush so that the spindle is now a tight fit. The result can be seen at https://youtu.be/UTL6pM8uRAA
The slightly oval spindle hole meant air was being drawn in past the loose fitting spindle causing the engine to run lean.

It says about descaling when i ordered some, apparantly it is also used for pH correction in hydroponics.
No idea about the lucozade probably because it “aids recovery” doesnt say what of. Presumably aids recovery of shiney chrome.
