be careful of that sealant you put inside the tank i used some of that on one of my bikes which had a rusty tank and it blocked the fuel line also it didn’t work that well either i had more luck with petro patch which is applied on the outside and like it’s name implies it is like a puncture repair

i am all for information sections, ploughing yes of coarse but we also need information sections on other things like mower, rotavator and sprayers etc. i think most members will agree that our club and its members have a huge collection of knowledge and i think we owe it to our interest/hobby and even passion of all things horticultural to share with others and help introduce new members to our club. i beleive this is a good club and good forum and i like being part of it but if we can widen the areas within all aspects of horticulture this could and i think would be a great forum and great club

hi all after a site meeting today i can confirm that we will all be in our own little horti-village for camping/ displaying and working with the arena entrance just a pop pop bang away

the field on the right is the car park. the entrance is on the right edge. horticultural working are is top left of same field

the field lower left field is an arena and trades/ crafts fair etc

upper left field is another arena , tractors, cars, archery, stationary engines . we will be in this field to the upper right corner and spreading both ways from the corner about 15-20m depth behind us.
also behind us is the entrance to our working area

Had an early start today and made the first Adj screw..

Yes Charlie, Mine is exactly the same as the one Busman shows, it is also illustrated in the download of the BSA catalogue that Kilmar kindly supplied, as a Land rover man, you will be interested to see from both photos the “Ball” for the socket that works the throttle lever rod, that also connects to the governer, all original, never seen that set up on a rotorvator before.

I was trying to remove the adj screws in the blade pads with some heat but they would not have it! so I had to drill them out and re tap them. Now to make some new screws..

Yes the photos from busman confirm it, here are some photos I took today after taking it off the machine, there is no sign of the Amal name, as I think that is on the top of the missing float chamber lid, but you can see on the ring it is marked 124/131, SO! the mystery of the “Rubber BUng” is solved, when I removed the hose clip the top consists of a piece of rubber hose with a metal insert and the rubber plug is drilled underneath to take the float needle, the only difference to a proper top is that there is no “Tickler” to flood the carb, I reckon that this set must have worked ok, but I might try to make a proper top with a needle seat if I cant find one on that well known auction site.

I will take it off the machine tomorrow and photograph it at close range, it,s that rubber bung that bugs me, never heard of one before.

Looking at the engine manual, it states the carb is an Amal 124. While restoring my Trusty, I found one of these carbs (which now makes sense as I also have the remains of a Cultmate awaiting restoration). Attached is a photo. The float chamber and screw on top are just a smaller version of what is fitted to the Amal 225 and 276 model carbs. So, looks like yours has lost it’s original float chamber top.

It is interesting, I have not owned a seeder before, and I have only seen the hand pushed variety, this one I am sure was designed to fit a machine, I saw a Trusty catalogue, and that showed seeders fitted to the tool bar, have you heard of MG or GM? of Birmingham? Regards
