Excellent, thank you. I have now found the source of the problem, the drive gear for low speed has about 20% of the length of the teeth worn away, I’m guessing from being forced into gear with the clutch engaged or from the belt dragging. I plan to repair it by rebuilding with Armoid welding rods then grinding/filing back to get the tooth profile.

The problem I now have is how to get the drive gears off the little shaft that comes from the worm drive. I have removed the castellated nut but I can’t work out how the gear is on the shaft, it looks to thin to be splined and it ain’t shifting with a puller either.

Can’t read the label – which manufacturer is it? Looks good though.

for the color, I already noticed that it not match with color of the original (white), but if it’s not the first engine maybe the machine is older than the engine. nobody know how we can determine the manufacture date with the serial number (PAT NO 714394 SER NO TMT101173)?

For the link you suggest, I have already seen it, but it’s younger machines I think.

Nice – mine had no cable either but it should do. What’s your plan are you going to work on it or are you in the market for an offer for it all?

Here are some photos of my Barford Atom and Trailer
I have a plough and other bits that go with it
I bought it with the intention of restoring it but haven’t got going with it.
I haven’t had the engine running but now I have got it out and hitched up the trailer for the first time it has inspired me to get on with it.
There is no throttle cable on the machine and it never looks as if there’s never been one is that correct?

Yes, all fluids were topped up before it was used.

Keep your tyres dark and in a damp place, not wet. A cellar is a good place or somewhere similar.
