ParticipantI would like second Paul’s proposal of good wishes to one and all, especially the forum admin team for all of their work behind the scenes.

ParticipantI think the adjustment info that you seek is on the text page following the exploded engine drawings.

ParticipantWas that HMS Alliance? We took the kids there some years ago not long after the Submarine Museum at Gosport was opened up. As you say very cramped no good at all for us six footers to go to sea with, certainly would not want to do liners and pistons on the main engines!
Re the Sub in the mud I fear you would need more than a Wheelhorse to reach where she is lying.

I think this what John has seen, it was on our local news a few days ago
Now John that would pose a challenge to restore it to your normal standards.

ParticipantWorry ye not we are still hanging on tight down here in the South East (Dover). The way the weather has been today hibernating sounds a good idea!

ParticipantIs that the little mower about the size of a carpet sweeper? The cylinder was a two or three blade affair with a spring loaded bottom blade and a belt drive.
The name Concord was very apt for the one that lived next door to us, the old chap used to cut his grass every day taking several minutes over the each area of grass, the mower used to sound like Concorde preparing for take off!December 18, 2013 at 7:34 pm #4228hillsider
ParticipantA bit late to help in this case but here is the company that I have used few times, enter your bearing number in the search box on their site to see the bearing that you are looking for.

ParticipantThe materials used were certainly better quality than some some of those in use today, this is the second Seagull that I have returned to good health this year.
It made a change from the normal diet of small engines, it was a long time since I had last worked on a Seagull, we used them at work many moons ago on work boats around the Port and of course they came into the workshop for repairs.
Back then you could go into the local Marine Chandlers shops here and get almost everything Seagull off the shelf that is no longer the case though.December 14, 2013 at 5:00 pm #4040hillsider
ParticipantWell spotted John, I had not read that bit of the site until just now.

ParticipantNo, this one is fitted with the plastic inlet that is screwed onto the carb body. The storm shield that you refer to s still available but not fitted the case of this engine.
Would you believe the engine on this beast was designed to run on a 10:1 fuel mix I guess smoke and oil pollution was not too high on the agenda back when these engines were designed, there are conversion kits available to bring the ratio down to 25:1 but not fitted to this engine as it will not get much use and the oily mix has done a great job of preserving it so why mess with a working formula.https://www.saving-old-seagulls.co.uk
Follow the link above to a site that is very helpful and shows a great deal of information about these lovely old machines

ParticipantI have found that some maintenance sprays are also good for proving that an engine is able to run, one that i use is marketed by Morrison’s and is around £2 a tin. See tin in attached photo not the chainsaw that is another story all of it’s own. You do have to be experiment to find sprays that work for instance WD40 does not seem to fire up.

ParticipantIt may help to give the engine some work to do like ploughing or cultivating, this would get the engine up to working temperature and hopefully burn off the carry over that you have seen.
You also need to consider the past history of the tractor i.e. Was it smoking when last run by the previous owner! Is this why it was laid up for ten years?November 24, 2013 at 8:34 pm #3372hillsider

ParticipantMine has arrived safely it was well packaged, clearly addressed and well put together. So well packaged that I actually received two copies of the magazine in the one envelope! I wonder who got the empty pack?
If it needs to be forwarded on let me know, otherwise I shall pass it on to to a likely candidate.
