ParticipantIf Howards recommended gl4 then that is what you should use, which is more suitable for spur gears and the like
, gl5 id for diff’s, nothing to do with viscosity, also ep oils should never be used in gearboxes which have phosphor-bronze bushes as these will get eaten away by the ep, also gl5 has twice the amount of additives that will eat brass, copper and p/b.September 18, 2022 at 6:59 pm #39968enginear
ParticipantWith ref to understanding how an electronic ign system works if you go into google and ask what is inside or how an electronic ign module works there are some very good videos of these, just remember without magnets and electricity humans would be in deep trouble, and ask yourself one other question as you know metal is attracted to magnets and the earth has a magnetic field, but we are not made of metal so why do we stick to the earth.

ParticipantAs Wristpin stated is compression good, if you take spark plug out and stick your thumb over hole turn engine over quickly and it should blow off and if you lay plug on head at same time as your thumb is blown off a spark should be seen, if not have you had engine apart and got valve timing wrong.

ParticipantI used one a few months ago that had not been started for at least 5yrs , tank was cleaned, oil changed, new plug and it run on E10 no problem, drain tank after finishing this year and run engine until carb is empty and you should have no problem.

ParticipantMy mistake it’s a 56, as for the roller ratchet i know this is available as complete unit but as this is a free job for an old boy who has cancer and i only took it apart because of dirt i would still like to know how many balls were fitted it was easy enough to remove one side and after a gentle try gave up on other side and just washer it clean, i can’t beleive i have lost upwards of 20 balls so if i can’t find out i will put some in either side and see if it’s ok, what about the B/s black paint.

ParticipantLooks more like a handle to pull locking pin down on top of a barn door, pivot on lower hole, pin attached to curved part hole.

Participantwith ref to these batteries they must be agm or gel type with the correct charger, fitting car batteries would work for a while but they don’t like to be run down like a disability battery, and i can assure you they are not cheap. another point if it has two batteries make certain they are wired up correctly some are 12v in series others wired to give 24v.

ParticipantThis is unusual as these boxes are very simple, would suggest you remove the drive chain from box to rear axle or do’s it drive front wheel as my wrigley, this will enable you to start engine if it still stall’s then it’s a problem inside the box if you go on google and put albion hea in it will show a parts diagram , if you can select each gear and disengage using clutch it may be rear axle problem or front wheel………..
