enginear replied to the topic Howard 350 EP90 EP80W90 GL4 GL5 for info. in the forum Pedestrian operated machines 2 years ago
If Howards recommended gl4 then that is what you should use, which is more suitable for spur gears and the like
, gl5 id for diff’s, nothing to do with viscosity, also ep oils should never be used in gearboxes which have phosphor-bronze bushes as these will get eaten away by the ep, also gl5 has twice the amount of additives that will eat brass,…[Read more] -

With ref to understanding how an electronic ign system works if you go into google and ask what is inside or how an electronic ign module works there are some very good videos of these, just remember without magnets and electricity humans would be in deep trouble, and ask yourself one other question as you know metal is attracted to magnets and…[Read more]

enginear replied to the topic Monro tiller villiers C12 in the forum Pedestrian operated machines 2 years, 1 month ago
As Wristpin stated is compression good, if you take spark plug out and stick your thumb over hole turn engine over quickly and it should blow off and if you lay plug on head at same time as your thumb is blown off a spark should be seen, if not have you had engine apart and got valve timing wrong.

What marking have you got on old plug, the cb3 is an 18mm plug.

I used one a few months ago that had not been started for at least 5yrs , tank was cleaned, oil changed, new plug and it run on E10 no problem, drain tank after finishing this year and run engine until carb is empty and you should have no problem.

I think i must be having a bad day Hayter not a 51 or 56 but a 48 am in touch with Toro’s at moment but as everyone states they don’t dismantle the ratchet assembly.

enginear replied to the topic Hayter harrier 51 in the forum Pedestrian operated machines 2 years, 3 months ago
My mistake it’s a 56, as for the roller ratchet i know this is available as complete unit but as this is a free job for an old boy who has cancer and i only took it apart because of dirt i would still like to know how many balls were fitted it was easy enough to remove one side and after a gentle try gave up on other side and just washer it clean,…[Read more]

This may be considered to be too new, but it’s for an old friend, i have taken off rear fluted split roller which has a jap or chinese cycle wheel double hub with two sprockets which acts as a differential as it was very dirty i decided to dismantle it thinking it would have some reasonable size ball bearings but they are about 3mm a dot of which…[Read more]

with ref to these batteries they must be agm or gel type with the correct charger, fitting car batteries would work for a while but they don’t like to be run down like a disability battery, and i can assure you they are not cheap. another point if it has two batteries make certain they are wired up correctly some are 12v in series others wired to…[Read more]

This is unusual as these boxes are very simple, would suggest you remove the drive chain from box to rear axle or do’s it drive front wheel as my wrigley, this will enable you to start engine if it still stall’s then it’s a problem inside the box if you go on google and put albion hea in it will show a parts diagram , if you can select each gear…[Read more]

Yes filing a slot is a solution i thought of so would putting it on a lathe, even better, but i repeat only if one knows exactly where there original mark was, the crank had obviously turned and possibly moved every time the engine was pulled over thereby partially wiping out where it should be, but if i knew when ign occurred in relation to the…[Read more]
