Thanks. I hadn’t seen one before – and the seller doesn’t name it. I like the look at it. How does it stand up to the more common(?) Trusty or Anzani pedestrian tractors? Was it a reasonable sales success?

Well done Robert – a great selection of pictures. I now just need to convince my other half to hang it up in the kitchen. Failing that it will definitely be used in the shed.

crawlersimon started the topic (American) Classic Tractor Fever – YouTube in the forum General talk and discussion 4 years, 11 months ago

You may already watch the Classic Tractor Fever channel on YouTube, but if not I can recommend it for the moments when you’ve run out of other things to do, watch or read. Whilst it predominantly features larger American tractors, it does occasionally include British and other foreign tractors, and of more interest to VHGMC forum followers s…[Read more]

crawlersimon replied to the topic Looking for some replacement wheels – I think they were used on a Benford dumper in the forum Ride-on machines 4 years, 11 months ago

Hi Jonathan. Thanks for your further thoughts. Unfortunately the wheels have gone in a number of places – including around the lip so they are also unable to hold new tyres. I’m therefore exploring all options. With the tank even semi filled there is some weight for the wheels to support. If I could find some kind of period replacements (even if t…[Read more]

    Hi All,
I have a pair of wheels shod in 15.00 x 19 tyres with an unusual (at least to me) three stud/wheel nut pattern which have unfortunately rotted away and are now beyond redemption. I believe I have correctly identified them as being used on the back of some classic Benford dumper trucks. Though I’m guessing the wheels were also used for o…[Read more]

That’s great, I wish I had a plot of ground like that to go at. I could then stretch both my legs and those of the tractor. As it is I’ll continue to sit at the computer and the tractors in the garage. ☹️

My only observation on the potatoes is that, in my experience, you will need to get the potatoes in ASAP – in order to get a crop from them.…[Read more]

For a reasonable fee the Ferguson Club is able to take you through the process of registering any classic tractor and check the supporting evidence pack before it goes to the DVLA, link below:

Some time spent surfing, I came across this website for a 1:35 scale model a fictional Danish gravel company set in 1945 to 1955. It is beautifully modelled with great attention.

What surprised and delighted me was the inclusion of a Ransomes MG6 model alongside the trains and shunting sheds.

    Hi Dave,
Are you able to give any more details of the weekend such as the timings of things for those who haven’t attended before? I am looking at attending (as I need all the help and pointers I can get on actually starting and running my machine and on the fine art of ploughing) and am wondering how early I need to get up on the Saturday m…[Read more]

    Hii,
Thanks for your reply. Would love to pop down to Camberley at some point to learn from an expert! Do you ever go ploughing?
How is best to exchange details?

crawlersimon started the topic Iron Horse throttle control in the forum Pedestrian operated machines 6 years, 1 month ago

I have acquired an Anzani Iron Horse recently and have taken it out in the garden for a few short nervous test runs. These have raised an immediate question around the throttle control arrangements.

    Am I correct that:
In gear, drive to the wheels should only occur as I move the throttle lever on the handle, and conversely drive should cease…[Read more]

crawlersimon started the topic Insurance question in the forum Pedestrian operated machines 6 years, 1 month ago

    Hi All,
I note there have been numerous posts over the years about the Club supplied liability insurance and that it doesn’t apply to “ride on machines” which require road traffic act insurance on a rally field (even though they may never go any where near an actual public high way).

My main question is whether there is a clear, definitive list…[Read more]

Currently on ebay there is an interesting Ransomes ITW Loader that you might like to tke a look at (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANSOMES-WHEELED-LOADER-MG2-ITW/253245058427?hash=item3af694ed7b:g:0YcAAOSwIFtaAC3R). Though it appears to be misnamed as an MG2. I haven’t seen one before – is it a one off special or was it something that Ransomes…[Read more]
