If what comes out of gearbox looks like good but used old oil I would just refill with new oil, SAE 90. Cutter bar gearbox oil recommended in manual is Shell X100 SAE40. Knife clips should be set to touch knife but allow it to move freely.
Check wires for continuity, especially from coil to points. Another problem could be high resistance between the back plate, which is aluminium, and items attached to it which use the back plate as a return path.Is HT lead making good contact with the contact point on the coil?

Welcome, a lot of us start with something small, but be warned this hobby is very addictive and before you know it you will have a shed or two full. Transport can be an issue but it is surprising what can be fitted in with a bit of ingenuity and a set of spanners. Good luck in your search. Full membership includes The Cultivator magazine which has a Sale and Wanted section.

Microsoft Office picture manager has an option to compress photo and list e mail or web etc. There must be a similar option on a Mac. If you open your photo editing software and use help to find ‘compress photo’ it should give the answer, possibly resize. No need to take photo again on different camera.
