Welcome, a lot of us start with something small, but be warned this hobby is very addictive and before you know it you will have a shed or two full. Transport can be an issue but it is surprising what can be fitted in with a bit of ingenuity and a set of spanners. Good luck in your search. Full membership includes The Cultivator magazine which has a Sale and Wanted section.

Alan, very sorry to hear about the theft, keep an eye on that auction site. Whoever took them clearly only wanted the easily sold on machines and not the attachments, the plough is fairly distinct.

Now tell me you didn’t plan the holiday around spotting the item on that auction site. A good find.

I had a quick search for AMAL spares and found this on the Burlen Ltd website which might help Stay Up Floats

Microsoft Office picture manager has an option to compress photo and list e mail or web etc. There must be a similar option on a Mac. If you open your photo editing software and use help to find ‘compress photo’ it should give the answer, possibly resize. No need to take photo again on different camera.

The attached extracts from B&S workshop manual should help.

I use shrinkpic on my pc, not sure if it works on a Mac. This software is free and runs in the background, automatically resizing images when uploading to web or e mail. You should have photo editing software and it probably has an option to save images in a format and file size suitable for the web.The file size is limited for several reasons, upload and download time and storage space on the server.

Another one of the many products made by Allen of Oxford, nice to see something different.

Points gap for Mk25 is 0.012 – 0.016″. Timing is 3/16 BTDC this is measured from top of piston and is easiest if the cylinder head is removed.

The important measurement is the height above and distance from the plough point, one of our ploughmen will know the answer.

It is good practice to slow engine to minimum and watch the shaft on side of gearbox stop. IF it is turning at any speed engaging the clutches will cause damage to them and engaging only one could cause machine to turn, eg engage right hand clutch and it will drive right hand wheel so turn left. Engaging clutch with shaft turning causes damage to the dog clutch. These can be inspected by opening the top of the gearbox by lifting the toolbox. trusty220 is our Trusty expert.

Ohh dear, a sad state of affairs. At least the VHGMC had a vote at their AGM before making the founding members life members a few years ago.

I have just received the ‘spare’copies of The Cultivator which would suggest all the others are in the post and should start to arrive in the next day or two.
