charlieKeymasterWe are aware of the ‘fake’machine and a follow on article will appear in the December issue warning members of the perils of relying on unverified information on the internet or in print.
It will be interesting to see how many spot the fake.October 12, 2023 at 8:54 am #41294
charlieKeymasterHave a look at the list in The Cultivator, page 2, there is a contact for British Anzani, they may be able to help.

charlieKeymasterWilliam, the click you are listening for is the magneto impulse. Not all magnetos are fitted with them, it nay be that it is the wrong magneto. There should be a small plate on the magneto giving type, if you could post that up on here it will help identify what magneto you have. Also which model of Petter A, and serial number as looking at the Wico magneto information I have several different magnetos were fitted over the years.

charlieKeymasterAn interesting question. I suspect the answer is no one knows as it is a scenario that has not come up before. I am sure there would be some interest. It is worth noting that a new machine would not be eligible for a prize in a vintage class.

charlieKeymasterAll I know relates to W L Bartrop. They were agricultural engineers and ironmongers in Highworth, the town I was born near to. Some photographs of the shop and works can be seen on the Highworth Historical Society website
I also remember seeing one of the Greenfield tractors at a vintage rally held near Highworth around 2003.September 11, 2023 at 8:11 am #41202

charlieKeymasterYou have come to the right place. We have a number of members with knowledge of Ransomes crawlers, including one that can supply spare parts.
I would suggest you start by getting a copy of the parts list and owners manual.
Photos always help with identifying items or problems.August 23, 2023 at 7:35 am #41152

charlieKeymasterIs it an earth terminal or a stud for mounting the capacitor, which may also be an earth? I don’t see any reason why it would need an earth other than safety.

charlieKeymasterPhotos show tyre fitting process step by step.
1 place inner tube in tyre.
2 place larger half of wheel face down on bench
3 place tube and tyre on larger half of wheel with valve through hole in wheel
4 turn wheel over and place smaller half of wheel over tyre, aligning holes in wheel halves.
5 shows tyre only just starting to go on wheel, this is sufficient for following steps.
6 with suitable nuts and bolts clamp the two halves of wheel together, no need to fully tighten.
7 Gently inflate inner tube, the pressure will push the tyre onto the wheel, may go with a bang.
8 Deflate inner tube then remove temporary bolts and fit the 3 screws that hold the two halves together, take care not to pinch the inner tube.
Tyre can now be inflated to correct pressure.
No need for tyre levers.August 14, 2023 at 5:02 pm #41114
charlieKeymasterInsurance for rally field and shows is not quite the same as for the road, machine does not need to be registered or taxed etc. Use machine serial number to identify it. Try some of the insurers that advertise in magazines such as Tractor & Machinery. When I had an MG2 I insured it with the NFU. Note call centre staff may not have a clue about RTA cover for vintage rallies etc.
