One method of removing bearings from blind holes is to fill centre of bearing with grease, then with a bar of suitable diameter (slightly less than centre of bearing) placed in this hole a sharp blow with a hammer should do the trick. This is the method for removing rear layshaft bearing in series Land Rover gearboxes.

35 serial numbers run from 35000 to 350997 (July 1950 to May 1958)
56 serial numbers run from 560001 to 561869 (July 1948 to May 1960)
A good number of both models were exported mostly Australia and New Zealand, other destinations include Norway and Sweden.

I have had a look through various operator manuals I have for different Rototiller models, see below:
    50 & 30 Castrol D or Swanshot ST
50, 51 & 30 Castrol Swanshot or Shell Retinax, one copy has an erratum slip stuck in which also lists Mobiloil C
    35 & 56 Castrol ST or SAE 90
Unfortunately none of the publications have any dates. The manual that came with my 1948 model 56 has the lubrication page missing.
One of the important points is to use an ST rather than EP oil. I use Morris Oils AG140.

Cant offer any advice as to what shade of red, but I do know red can be one of the worst colours for fading.
