will-haggleParticipantOn the Mk 12 Ignition timing is 3/16″ (4.76mm) before TDC, slacken the flywheel so that it just turns on the crankshaft, turn the engine to tdc, rotate it backwards until the piston is 3/16″ back down the bore (best to remove the head for accuracy).
Rotate the flywheel while holding the crank still until the points are just opening (use a cigarette paper, it should just pull out)
Still keeping the crank stationary carefully tighten the crankshaft nut. recheck the timing, if it’s OK do the crankshaft nut up very tight.
The Villiers spanner for this has a lump on the end which you hit with a hammer.December 26, 2013 at 10:39 pm #4550

will-haggleParticipantHi John, Welcome, That’s a good looking conversion. It looks like it was done some while ago, judging by the front wheels which are probably Ford 8 or 19 ones. Have you got a Bonnet?

will-haggleParticipantType no and engine no are also stamped into the base flange. My 220 didn’t have a plate either…..

will-haggleParticipantCheers, Geoff, will do, BTW those pies you get from the West Midlands are now available from my pie and cheese stall on Calne market. I got a chunk of their gala pie last week! Yum!! 🙂
