vhgmcbuddyMemberWill-Haggle thank you. Using the VHGMC site, a yearly calendar which allows written entries alongside any date, would be an easy way of collating some of the minor shows, and ones which would appeal to the membership. Is it possible to explore the possibility of such?

vhgmcbuddyMemberFinally got a few minutes on the mg2 again today, still fiddling with the carb trying to make it leak free. I did however spot the engine number under the grime, TB 6135. Hopefully on my day off this week I should get it back together and make some real progress.

vhgmcbuddyMemberI have managed to get the fuel pump off it was just a case of releasing the excess fuel button and then it pulled straight out so I will get that checked out and when I put it back together make sure that I bleed it thoroughly, thanks for your help.

vhgmcbuddyMemberIf you have had it apart I would bet that there is air still in the system somewhere. It only takes a tiny bubble to stop an engine from starting.

vhgmcbuddyMemberIt is about 2months since I had it running so I will give that a try. Thanks

vhgmcbuddyMemberI will have a look for the access plate. I agree with you I have never had a problem with it starting before. The excess fuel button is pulled out at the moment and does not return when I shut the throttle down. Thank you expeatfarmer

vhgmcbuddyMemberThe engine does not have a glow plug just an excess fuel button. I think I will have to check the compression as I hadn’t thought about that. Thank you Neil

vhgmcbuddyMemberA bit more progress but unfortunately we have had some unwelcome visitors last weekend, going through our sheds and helping themselves to bits and pieces so I have been busy increasing our security rather than working on the ransomes.
I did whip the head off and free up the exhaust valve and now we have compression although I think in the long term the valves will benefit from a lapping in but we shall see. The carburrettor bowl was leaking so I decided to have a look at the gasket but that is held in with two rusty screws which refused to come undone so they are soaking in penetrating oil until the weekend. Once that is sorted out we can see if it will run. -
