vhgmcbuddyMemberThat is a massive help, thank you for that Angus. I checked the oil this morning and it does seem very thin (and clean) so I’m going to change it at somepoint soon with the 20/50 it should have and see if the smoking improves….

vhgmcbuddyMemberThanks for looking, I don’t suppose anyone has any information on the villiers engine fitted to this? It looks like I could do with some rebuild parts if I can find them to stop it smoking

vhgmcbuddyMemberYes Rob the belt is like you say, limited to the available length. Now a video is in the pipeline and i would like it to be taken at Newby Hall Nr Ripon. As this year they are organising Tractor Fest and also a gathering of Lister Engines. Hopes are high and interest is global so if a 1000 turn up I want to be one of the many. Not sure whether you have been to this gathering in N.Yorks but its one BIG venue in the grounds of a large estate.

vhgmcbuddyMemberIt runs! And better than that, it cuts grass…. And smokes! I still would like more info on it if anyone can help? I had a look at the old lawnmower club website and as far as I can see you have to be a member to use the forum, I know it’s a little cheeky but, I don’t suppose anyone is a member on here are they?

vhgmcbuddyMemberA nice find John. I worked for Drake & Fletcher on 3 occasions. From 1985-mid89, 1990-1998 and 2000 until 2009. The rear wheels look as though they are not original. It would have had rear skids fitted from new. I am still in contact with the former Managing and Deputy Managing Directors of Drake & Fletcher.

vhgmcbuddyMemberI checked round the engines and couldn’t find a number, there are 4 holes in the cowling which looks like where a plate could be but seems they havnt been numbered from new. It seems unusual to have a separate oil tank, an early version of autolube, and a mix tap where the oil and petrol mix before the carb, so this may be a clue as to what they are off.

vhgmcbuddyMemberOnward and upward is this projects motto, things are taking shape. Grafics have arrived from Titch and the belt has been cut to size and fitted. Just been giving the outfit a test run with substitute cotton cake, and we are up and running. This project has taken some time but when you are in untrained situations the road is long. a few photos as always and thanks to all who have contributed. HAPPY SHOWING IN 2014
