vhgmcbuddyMemberThanks for that Andrew, have taken it to bits and turned the disc over, will reassemble and test tomorrow. Think it probably fooled me as the hole in the valve chest cover comes out close to the exhaust also the plug was badly oiled up when I first took it apart.Plug looks dry now but probably over rich mixture as it is well sooted up.
I note from an exploded diagram I have found that the valve chest cover should have a baffle or is that the tin shield you mention?
Thanks anyway for pointing me away from the wild goose chase I was probably about to start.
Best Wishes,

vhgmcbuddyMemberYes Jap model 6. The extra weight means we need the timber block to stop it tipping up when parked.

vhgmcbuddyMemberHi
There, I have just joined the club as have a collection of old bits which I love using – Merry Tiller and hand tools mostly. I have just acquired a TS Allen Scythe which has been working well but suddenly stopped cutting/driving forward! Engine is going fine. Is there something designed to shear or have I killed it???
Are there any mechanics in my area who could help a batty old lady out please?!! Near Devizes, Wilts.
Look forward to hearing from anyone who can help.

vhgmcbuddyMemberYes! I’ve got the Cultivator issue:I enjoyed the long article about Simar that I’ve sent to Simar fanatics here in France ( a friend of mine has got 40 of them)
Also emotion seeing the Gravely D (the tractor which has been produced in an innexistant factory!!!)
I love to read the Cultivator as this is a different cultureJuly 7, 2014 at 7:02 am #8999
vhgmcbuddyMemberHello
The problem is the weight: with a pedestrian you can push down on the handlebars with the whole driver’s weight but on a four wheels it’s impossible!July 6, 2014 at 5:44 pm #8996
vhgmcbuddyMemberooh a model TS with a model T fuel tank.
Got plenty of bits if you need any. Not a tank or tyres though!!

vhgmcbuddyMemberI know that I can down load it but is it possible that someone could check for me on the mailing list, I have not received the last two editions.
I know it’s a long way to Wigan from down south but the postman still knows where I live.
I miss it 🙁

vhgmcbuddyMemberHello John. I have about 1/2 an acre of grass, keeps me occupied this time of the year. I have had various mowers in the past but for the last 5 years the WH 512 D has been the most reliable and being diesel is good on fuel. I’m putting the finishing touches to a WH 518 H, been working on it for about 4 years on and off. I tend to buy some thing else and start restoring that,so I have a few projects on the go. WH Frankies been handy for trailer work. I reach as much grass as I can with WH to leave as little strimming as possible. Like you say saves the leg work.
