    Hello Rob.
With ref to the last message – I mixed up the tyre manufacturers, it should be vredestein not Trelleborg who make the correct tyres.

    Hi there Rob.

The original tyres were Dunlop Grassland 4.00 x 12. but these are no longer available. some of the tyres with deep treads will foul on the machine, you can get some with shallow treads, I have used Trelleborg ones successfully, there may be others.

Well done Alan, I think the machine was made in the very early 50s, according to the previous owner his father had bought the machine new, and only used it in his garden, he lived in Southport.

I would suggest that a 2A would not have enough power to run the Emery as a rotary cultivator, It would be ok for lighter work as fitted to the Troy Tractivator etc, which only fitted draught implements. I did quite a bit of research when I owned the Emery, but again without success. I only found a brief mention in Denys De Saulles book.

    Hi there partsmisty

As I thought there is a new unfitted pump in a box in my shed, I bought it a few years ago but have not used it, I think I will be happy to sell it now.

    Please PM me.

    Hi there
Kevin ( merlin keeper) Snewin, may have information regarding the manufacturer of the sprayer unit, I doubt it was made by Mayfield.
If not our west country rep Ray Smith, holds a lot of information on Mayfield products.

    Hi Charlie.
I think your machine is a Barford Power scythe that has been modified, using other Barford parts, wheels etc. In fact it looks to be a more usable machine.

    Hi there Plonker,
If it has the rotavator unit fitted, it would be about 4 cwt in old money!.

Charlie, I expect Mr ‘Merlin keeper’ will correct me but I think these are the later handles as fitted to the ‘Arun Mayfield range.

Could it be a design exercise? The airfilter would look more at home in a post war Morris car.

It looks a bit like something from the Monro stable ?

Could also be worth checking that all the tiny holes are clear in the jet tube, and that the needle is not out of true. soak the cerb in brake cleaner and blow with a good air line. ( mind your eyes )
