ParticipantIf you need to get another flywheel Chester Hudson in East Sussex has some, but the AC engine was fitted with two different types of flywheel, when I spoke to him 2 or 3 years ago he had both types and several of them, as I needed one myself. If ever you need a head gasket for the AC engine I have 2 new ones here. If you have not got the flywheel off the best way that i have used many times is to get a small piece of 10mm plate say 3or 4 inches square, Drill 1/2″ hole in the centre and weld a nut over the hole then drill 2, 5/16″ holes either side of it to match the threaded holes in the centre of the flywheel, If I remember correctly the flywheel is threaded 1/4″ unc so you can then attach the plate to the flywheel with 2, 1/4″ unc bolts but be careful to not screw them in to far for fear of damaging the coil, then screw a bolt in the centre nut that you welded on and tighten firmly, give the flywheel centre a soaking in WD40 or similar, then wait a few minutes then give the bolt head a sharp tap this should release the flywheel from the taper and key, but before doing this do not forget to slacken off the flywheel retaining nut a coupe of turns, if the flywheel is not released at the first try tighten the nut a little more and you should get the flywheel released.Regards Chris.

ParticipantHi, thanks folks for your replies, my son in law called this morning and was able to make out the numbers on the old belt, as his eyesight is better than mine, and he located one for me from a belts company on e bay, as we don’t have a bearing or belts supplier on the Island, my belt has rubbed along one side, shall have to move the engine pulley slightly to avoid this happening again, Thanks again and all the best for Christmas and the new year. Chris

ParticipantHi I recall having rebuilt one of these engines for a customer around 15 yrs ago, I think about a pint of oil sounds more like it, unless you have a lot of back pressure in the sump through worn piston rings, causing it to push oil out, I had the piston rings made by Philip Daintree, and also the head gasket, of which I still have 3 left, if you or anyone else needs one. Good little engine the AC 120cc when running right. Regards Chris.

ParticipantHi I have a couple of rims with hex centres off of a f 400, I will check the size of the hex centres, when you say 10″ rims do you mean the outer diameter of the tyre, the tyres are cracked slightly but have new tubes in them and would be ok to use, I thought that they might be the same size on the F400 as on the F600. I will check the measurements and get back to.you Regards ct33731. Chris Taylor.
