crawler
ParticipantHello Mike
I have not been on much lately so only just read this. I can’t help with much info on the Europa, the Crawler Tractor Scrapbook part one only mentions it briefly. The Europa looks to have been made between 1960 and 1964. It is described as having a 3 cylinder 32bhp engine, four bottom rollers on each track, 155″ long, 61″ wide with 12″ wide tracks. If fitted with an overloader it will weigh 10252lbs (4.65 tonnes). Bristol seemed to like the overloader idea, it was a front loading shovel that could lift the bucket right up and discharge to the rear of the tractor.
There is a table where the Europa is listed as PD series so they may have some common parts.
If the Europa is similar to the PD it will have hand operated steering clutches for each track and foot operated steering brakes.
Hope this helps a little.
Post some pictures if you can as I would be interested to see one.
Regards

ParticipantHi Iain
Here are the photos of my MG5 showing the cover and toolbox. The dimensions are in the PDF file.
The cover looks to made using 16 gauge steel sheet. I have not given dims for the toolbox lid, it is a clearance fit over the top of the toolbox. The lip round the side is approx 10mm.
Hope this help.

ParticipantHello
I haven’t been active on here for a while and somehow missed your post when just browsing the forum. If you can wait until the weekend I can take some photos of my MG5 showing the cover and tool box.
Well done on getting your MG up and running.

ParticipantHello
I have a Bristol 10 in my collection although it has not been run in quite a number of years.
I can’t help much with info on the 20’s but there is a good book out there that covers the 10.
It is called ‘The history of the Bristol Tractor 1932 to 1947’ by Geoffrey Stannard.
ISBN 0 86332 820 2 Have a look on eBay or Amazon and you should find it.
Have you any photos of your Bristols that you could post on here? It would be nice to see them.

ParticipantI can’t believe anyone on here would object, they are just variations on the MG crawler. I for one would like to see any updates you have.

ParticipantCongrats on completing your quest, you will have to open a museum now to display them all.
Did you get any photos of the MG6 with Demon loader?May 10, 2015 at 10:28 am #13005crawler
ParticipantThat looks a great machine. The rear lift looks to be the same design as the MG40 I have. Did it have something mounted on the front? The plates at the side of the engine bay look like mounting points.
Are you going to do a full restoration or just give it a going over with an oily rag?
Out of interest what make of hydraulic pump does it have?
All the best

ParticipantHi Tony, well done on a great restoration. It will make an interesting exhibit at any show you attend.
Glad I could help.

ParticipantThat’s quite a restoration job you have there. I look forward to following your progress. What state is the engine in?

ParticipantHi Graeme
We use either my 7.5 ton box lorry or twin axle flat-bed trailer behind Land Rover. I would definitely recommend a trailer with brakes. If you get a plant trailer it will usually have built in ramps and be lower than most other trailers which helps loading and unloading. If getting a flat-bed or other trailer don’t scrimp when it comes to getting some ramps. I’ve seen people messing about with planks and it’s just an accident waiting to happen. Our ramps are all steel and we have rubber that we roll out inside to give grip for the tracks.

ParticipantIt’s good to see your machine being used for it’s intended purpose. I’m sure you had an enjoyable time, I know I would have. How did the hydraulic pump perform, does it have enough flow for you to work the boom and stick together as you would on a mini digger?
