Topic: Howard Bantam/Villiers 25C
Hi all. Just acquired a Bantam which I think has a Villiers 25C on it.
I’ve discovered your lovely site as a result – it doesn’t run of course 🙂So far, I’ve discovered no spark, and the piston rings are no good.
So 2 questions I hope you may be able to help with:
1, how do I ensure I’ve got the right engine. Theres no numbers I can see
2, where can I get new rings
3, how do I get the flywheel off to gain access to the magneto – the head of the bolt in the started pulley is knackered. Is this left or right handed? Many thanks in anticipation,
New Member JimTopic: Howard Bantam belt size
Sorting out a Villiers Mk 15 engined Bantam for a friend and the belt hanging on the handle bars appears to be too short.
My Bantam book says A25 and a crude bit of string measurements suggests that the belt is about that, but the machine illustrated is not fitted with a Mk15.
Does anyone have a Mk15 engined Bantam and know for sure the correct belt size?Hello everyone.
I have just added a Howard bantam with finger bar mower to my collection,it is also fitted Villiers two stoke, how do I tell if its a mk 24c or 25c?? And has anyone a manual on this and mower?Topic: Howard bantam
Hi all
This is my first project I am starting its a howard bantam with a villiers 25c/24c engine (unsure at this moment in time)
After a few hrs work I’ve removed the engine and striped it down as it only run for a few seconds then cut out (umm last owner said he had just had it serviced – let’s find out how good the service was carried out)
So here’s where I’m at:
Magneto removed (cleaned and polished 1/4 of the fan is missing)
Pulley removed
Barrel removed (honed and first coat of paint)
Crank cases split (found a nightmare inside bronze seals and springs all in the wrong
Places I’ve got to figure out which way the new ones will fit)
Carb striped (cleaned, dry built up again ready for new gaskets, float and a needle as
it’s a banana)
Exhaust (cleaned and first coat of paint)
So all in all I’d say Stevie wounder could of serviced it betterAll comments or advice are appreciated
JamieFirst of all hi guys,
I’m in the process of restoring a villiers 25c engine after splitting the engine I have found a few little issues many of which I can resolve. From two manuals one dating 1950 the other 1963 it looks like I have the 1950’s engine my main concern is which way round the bronze washers and springs are fitted into the crankcases and crank as someone has built the engine an just thrown these parts in unfortunately for me.
I hope one of you guys will be able to help me out I will post pics when I’ve been back out in the workshop
Cheers Jamie
