My Model B (Villiers Mk10 engine but B’s could have JAP 2 A’s as well) doesn’t have a throttle it’s governed, you adjust the governor for the best speed.

Here’s a thought, when three wheel cars such as Bond Minicars, Berkeleys or Messerschmidts needed to reverse, they would reverse the direction of the starter. By simply reversing the direction of the current.

will-haggle replied to the topic Shandy Barrow or Shardy Barrow? Assistance needed in the forum Pedestrian operated machines 10 months ago

Shardy looks loke a typo to me. Reeves of Bratton, Nr Westbury in Wiltshire made a lot of ploughs, seed drills and other items such as hen houses, horse rakes etc. I enclose a brochure page showing your equipment and they describe it as a Grass and Clover Distributer, avoiding the Shandy or Shardy term altogether!

Mayfield garden tracors had ratchets in the hubs which would ease steering, my Fouroaks Spraymobile has a Mayfield chassis but the hubs are seized making it a bit hard to turn, if it had 25 gallons of weed killer on board it would be even harder! 1st picture. My 1953 Mayfield, 2nd picture My 1955 Spraymobile.

It may be worth sending your info to Charlie with the pictures and he could put it in the Cultivator Magazine for you, there may be someone nearby who can have a look at it for you.

I too have an unknown barrow sprayer. I’ve never seen anything like it but it has a paddle as well. They may have been made by local blacksmith for a large estate.

I have a book for the F15 engine and it mentions a Flywheel extractor, it seems it doesn’t self-extract like the older Villiers engines.
