I have a Westwood Groundhog GT5 rotavator but no documentation and have found very little information on the internet . I would be pleased with any information regarding this machine and in particular when it was made , correct colour and parts suppliers. Thank you

The Westwood Groundhog machines were introduced in the 1970s. There’s no mention of the groundhogs in 1973, but in autumn 1974 adverts were promoting the ‘NEW’ Westwood Groundhogs. When launched the 3 hp model was advertised at £95.

The date of your GT5 machine could be determined by the code stamped into the cowling on the engine.

The attached advert from 1976 shows that the Groundhog could be had with 3 to 5 hp engines.

A Westwood factory advert from Plympton in 1975 (the factory was brand new at this point) shows a row of Groundhogs in the background.

    Thanks for your help

    I have found the engine number 130202 0576 01 79010306 which I think gives a manufacturing date of 3 January 1979.

I have been looking for paint for this machine but have found two different colours being advertised ,red and orange red. Did Westwood change paint colours at some point in time or were different colours used for different types of machine ? Any assistance will be appreciated
