vhgmcbuddyMemberYes I realised that after I put the black on but I am going to re do it in red, the Miller cover has been basically remade as it was fairly rotten! Will keep you up to date on my progress.

vhgmcbuddyMemberWell a lot has progressed in 3
Months, I plan to start a thread in the projects forum. My 56A is coming along well. I managed to track down a brand new piston! I found the gearbox to be in good shape but had to spend a lot of time freeing up seized hubs etc. Here is a before pic and a couple of photos showing how it is looking up to date! I have lost track of the hours I have spent on her so far! I am aiming for completion towards the end of the year! I am very much inspired by Sean’s restoration and have been using his brilliant documentation as my go to guide!June 21, 2019 at 11:33 am #31445
vhgmcbuddyMemberAny help would be great 👍

vhgmcbuddyMemberThank you both, I did suspect that but much happier now. Don’t go away I have feeling I’ll be back again. Cleaning and derusting the cutter bar at the moment. Can’t remember now which engine it was but I’d never consider using cooling fins again.

vhgmcbuddyMemberDid a compression test and got 60psi is this to low or ok
June 12, 2019 at 6:24 pm #31401
vhgmcbuddyMemberIf I do a compression test what pressure should I expect.
Also my spark was more a yellow colour than blue.June 12, 2019 at 5:21 pm #31400
vhgmcbuddyMemberThanks Charlie, yes I have seen the two tone colours on the Internet.
I do have some original paintwork to go by but not on the panels of the recessed areas.
I think I will do a guesstimate.
Thanks again for your reply.

vhgmcbuddyMemberIf you are getting a GOOD spark at TDC Then nothing wrong with the electrics Make sure trhere are no leaks in the pipe manifold joints and good comp on the handle
Try pouring a splash into the plug hole and see what happens Both valves shut at TDC Exhaust opening when piston down a bit and inlet staying closed? Is the spark plug wet?
another thing ,, any slap or gap on the buttewrfly spindle
Always a good thing if you can get a plastic tubing for the in let pipe the fuel pipe will show air bubbles and don’t use the hose clamps get the crimp type tidier job anyway and also if it is original it might have collapsed inside causing a blockage the fuel likely to get through ,, eventually but slow and without pressureFrom : noreply@vhgmc.kinsta.cloud

Thank for the info I have reset the timing and have the spark happening at TDC
Still not firing now think it is the Magnéto coil as I have replaced the condenser
Will also change the spark plug.
I will take the Magnéto of the engine and try running it up with a drill to see how good itJune 11, 2019 at 2:50 pm #31389
