I totally agree with what wrist pin says about valves etc, however I’ve been over mine with a fine tooth Combe yet still can not turn it into a reliable starter. I’ve had an awfull lot of bad experiences with aspera/ techusmech on the whole caused by poor quality control/inferior materials in the factory. For show keep it original, if however you intend to use it instead, fit a Briggs,or Villiers etc.

I do struggle a bit with uploading photos John. I’ve tried uploading them on the computer but i get a message saying they’re too big, so i put them on with my phone.

    Any tips would be good.

I’ve heard about the 2 furrow plough too. Do you know if they are a full size mould board Charlie? Is it as simple as 2 ts42 bodies fitted together?

Hello. I have a Howard 220 a two garden masters with Aspera engines, If you alter the idle screw to obtain a smooth tick over then adjust the main jet screw at the bottom of the bowl to get a smooth running high revs. I will have a look at the numbers on my carb tomorrow, your engine is probably a Asprea H35. Some of these carbs had a fix jet.

These engine were as a general rule awfull, very occasionally you’d get a good one but not often. To set up the majority of carbs, carefully wind the jet onto its seat then out one and a half turns. Start it up and make minor tweaks until it runs smoothly through the range. My 220 by the way is not reliable to start, runs fine once going but can be impossible at times to fire up.

your right there the spade is classed as a swe r word here. but its nice to see one at work. would it pull a trailer plough, and if so how many furrows ? just off topic here when you uploaded the photos what setting size do you use as my photos come out very small.

Thought I might as well get this clutch operating lever mounted as I am having to get parts down from my paint line to put up further components as the resto progresses. Looking at the end of the clutch coupling has reminded me that the original rubber sleeves which take up the initial torque of the engine at take off, have worn to such a degree that prompt attention is required. Will need three short lengths of say heater hose cut to 1 inch lengths to get things back to how it was back in the late 1950’s.

Thanks Charlie. Gives me a bit more confidence in it, I now I’ve used it on worn threads with good results.

Had a better look at the Honda F400 the other day, found a lose flywheel. It has damaged the key way particularly the flywheel see photo, the crank key was not so bad, I lap the fly wheel to the tapper with fine grinding paste. I got a new key and it fitted it in the crank OK. Placed a small amount of J-B Weld in the wide part of the flywheel key way, fitted it on and tightened it to the correct torque. Yesterday after leaving it for a few days I gave it a try, started fine ran it for 10 minutes checked drive and gears all working fine. Stopped it and flywheel was still tight but time will tell. I would be a lot happier with a replacement flywheel so in the mean time I will be looking out for one. The rotors fit the F28 tiller so I’ve started work on the G28 engine I bought the frame and the engine separate, the frame is in good order. The engine runs OK but the exhaust needs sorting, at present its piece of copper pipe with one side of the flange welded to the stud. I’ve had a F28 before that’s the one in on my avatar. Short video of F400 running with strobe light connected, no exhaust so bit noisy. Honda used 22mm drive shaft for the F28 & the F400, Does anyone know of any other models that used that 22mm drive size. https://youtu.be/04Hl8kdsFZM
