Thanks will-haggle, I’d seen this one which covers the belts and a tip about cutting set up but would like a complete manual if possible or one which covers the Briggs Stratton engine.

Much appreciated Rob, will have a go at making one, although i prefer the electric start!!

I do not plan on restoring this one, although i do plan on repairing it mechanically, the track roller bearings seem worn and theres some track rubbers missing.

The rear lifting arrangement would have been added in France and i believe it was so local implements could be used, however i do not know if it was fitted to the tractor from new or f someone was fed up of the manual lifting frame and fitted this to the back. The tractor would have been ordered without hydraulics, and just the standard PTO.

i have confirmed my suspicion of the clutch slipping, as i was able to put the tractor in gear and rev the engine without any sign of the engine bogging down when both brakes were applied.

On a long run on Tarmac at a rally I think the nut on the flywheel worked loose allowing the flywheel to start moving around . The key way was damaged on the flywheel and had to be recut as well .

Ahh, bloody nightmare that! Just finished rebuilding my mg5 and mg6 engines, crank reground ect.

Hope this doesn’t happen to me! Must be rare though, not sure how it would cause it?

That’s perfect, exactly what I needed thank you.

I thought it would be something like that and it may have been more obvious when the cable arrived, but the photos make it a lot easier.

It will be good to get the cable and lever sorted.

    Thanks

So, got a new crank shaft from Neil , along with new big end shells , roller bearings , seals and gaskets. Had to resize the conrod. Then the web on the crank would not fit into the crankcase. Got it in , and it was hitting off something inside ! Too big for my lathe so a mate took it down on his.
So here’s what it looks like tonight ….

Have you got it sparking on TDC with both valves closed?

What plug have you got, if it has a R in the part no then it has an internal resistor, it needs to be one without, also the plug cab must be 0ohms.

Have you got the air filter connected with oil in it as it may be drawing to much air, try putting your hand over the carb and turn it over you will feel it try to suck air in, that will draw file in and should fire at least once.
