vhgmcbuddyMemberI first tried to replace the key.
As I live in Belgium they have no stock of imperial keys only metric, so
I bought a 5 x 5mm oversized and filed until it fitted on the crankshaft.
Stange,it did not fit on the flywheel, so I filed half of the key to fit the flywheel.
Strange that it is not a square size.
The key fits now in both, but is asymmetric. The engine doesn’t make a knocking noise anymore on a first test.
As it rains today I hope to cut the grass tomorrow, let’s hope it stays ok.
I will let you know in a few days if everything is working.
Thank you very much for your help.August 12, 2014 at 11:02 am #9676
vhgmcbuddyMemberThanks yes you seem to have identified it , better pic attatched, any idea where I might get one and what is the adjustment necessary if any.
Also two bolts have come loose and lost the nuts, they go through the rocker arm, any idea of their spec as metric is my game and these are obviously imperial, and again any idea where I might get another couple of bolts and nuts, or maybe just nuts.
thanks.August 12, 2014 at 9:40 am #9659

vhgmcbuddyMemberNo worries.
Are you allowed to advertise them on here?August 10, 2014 at 5:06 pm #9639
vhgmcbuddyMemberCouldn’t agree more. I came to the same conclusion when visiting Newby Hall. My favourite show of the year is The Festival Of The Plough at High Burnham, Lincolnshire. Certainly does not have the number of exhibits that the mainstream shows have, but a large proportion of what is on display is actually running.
There’s nothing like the smell of two stroke exhaust first thing in the morning!!!August 10, 2014 at 10:53 am #9637
